Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Did a search on all the previous oil leak posts and it appears that I am going to need the rear mail seal replaced although it doesn't appear to be leaking right in the middle.
Leading evidence: 'leaking "return tubes"' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'leaking "return tubes"' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace although it doesn't appear' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Anyhow if I need the RMS replaced can anyone tell me the approximate cost?

and then replace RMS which is not so easy I beleive.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Did a search on all the previous oil leak posts and it appears that I am going to need the rear mail seal replaced although it doesn't appear to be leaking right in the middle. It is more to the passenger side a little forward of the wheel. Anyhow if I need the RMS replaced can anyone tell me the approximate cost? My warranty expired in May although I do have an extended one with Warranty Gold but from what I hear there are problems with claims being paid.
Anyone know the approximate cost or hopefully it may be something else since it is not in the center. I need to get it on a lift this weekend to get a better look.
I had the similar sounding problem. It was fixed under warranty and it was O-Ring around spark plug.
Also let me know how it went with Warranty Gold...
Hmmm. If it's to the side, it may be valve covers or cam caps. There were several TSB's on this I believe. Had mine done last week. It was under warrantee, sorry I don't know how much it would have cost otherwise.
The RMS leak shows up dead center. If you jack thecar up and look
at the point the gearbox meets with the engine you will see oil leaking
from that point exactly center of the car. If it ain't dead center it's unlikely to be RMS.
Cost is expensive. Got to drop the gearbox, remove clutch, flywheel
and then replace RMS which is not so easy I beleive. I mean if they don't align it properly your supposed to get a new engine! Then possibly replace
new flywheel and very likely new clutch....but you would be sensible to replace that anyway while the gearbox is out.
Did you look underneath the car to see where the leak might be coming from? I had a leak that came from the driver's side, apparently it had been leaking for some time before I noticed it. The oil was being burned off when it hit the headers, there were no drips on the garage floor. Mine was due to leaking "return tubes". Had all six return tubes changed out since the technician was in there. Like with most things automotive, the parts aren't expensive, its the labor.
