So they recommended taking it to a body shop, claiming damage, where they would repaint and bondo the dings.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just bought a used 996 ('99) and there is a very small ding in the sunroof and 2 on the passenger side, between the sunroof and windshield. Looks like it could have been hail damage. When I say small I mean only noticeable in a certain angle of light and only if you are actually looking for it. So the issue I am told by DentPro, is that sunroof electronics have to be removed along with multiple sheets of metal (car has to be protected in a roll over and thus needs extra metal) in order to pull these out. Therefore its near impossible. So they recommended taking it to a body shop, claiming damage, where they would repaint and bondo the dings. However, repainting means losing resale value. I guess my question is if anybody has had experience with this, whether DentPro has a valid recommendation, and whether its a good idea to repaint or not. Or I could just leave them there but being fairly ****, it bothers me to know they are there. Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

I would get a second opinion because that sounds like bull to me.

k--- you are being ****! leave well enough alone! who looks at the roof so intently, anyway? please accept this advise in the constructive spirit i am offering it it's easy too become too perfectionistic about a favorite toy!

POST 4Original post

You need to find a paintless dent repair place that uses the new 'pull from the outside' repair method. They either use a suction cup or temporarily glue a post on the paint (as Dave Barry would say, I am NOT making this up) and pull. No access from the back of the dent needed. See www.dingking.com and look for "glue pullers". regards JonT

Has anyone ordered and used this thing? It sounds relatively easy, and a lot less expensive than dent removal service.
