Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.
Discussions that report identifying a cause

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'id' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'id' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It was a beautiful day yesterday.
1. One snob in a 997 cab or was just clueless.
2. Friendly wave with a 997S cab with a beautiful sounding exhaust.
3. 993 cab nod.
4. Gave up on Cayennes..
I have never ever gotten a wave from a Cayenne.
I think those owners (exclusive of the Rennlist members here, of course) are oblivious as to what a Porsche really is.
Snob? You haven't seen anything til you've been to Marin County Califonria. You can't even leave your door step without triping over at least three. 8-P
Got a few waves yesterday, saw about 4 911's and a Cayman. But then again we'd only see each other at the last second since we were on some very twisty road.
Part of the problem is ID. The Porsche lineup makes it a lot harder to identify another Porsche early enough to react. When most of the cars were just 911s it was a lot easier.
I have never gotten a wave-back from a Boxster, or Cayenne. Got several waves from a 993, Cayman, and 996 Cab drivers.
It's really hit or miss. Sometimes I am paying attention to the road and forget to look to see if a Porsche is passing. Those owners might think I am a snob.
I wave to other Porsches when I am in the Cayenne or the 996. Generally, people wave back, although I have only had another Cayenne wave back once. If I am in the 996, I usually get a wave back from another 911, but not always. Porsches are fairly rare in Fort Wayne, Indiana - so we may have a higher rate of waves than other parts of the country.
I posted a response to that prior thread - abridged and repeated here:
So my point is, no need to be angry - sometimes people just aren't looking at you. Geez, I know it's insulting when you drive such an aesthetically-brilliant car, but no need to internalize it - keep on waving... and see if you can personally improve the ratios with your dedication and diligence!
Gave a wave yesterday to a beautiful polished black Porsche 356 Speedster on the 405 yesterday.
He had both hands firmly on the wheel and never let go ..
Today on a road trip saw a Red Turbo Cab(Midleton MD) very new very shinny got a big wave. and then on Rt 50 still in Maryland saw a red 911 going the other way stuck in traffic and got a big wave from him.
In the last 2 weeks.
964--wave, wave, and a head nod all to the same guy
993--head nod, and thumbs up
996 Turbo--wave
997--fail
997--fail
997--think she thaught I wasnt a porsche
cayennes---never in my life
356---pulled over for a chat
997/cayenne===fail when it comes to being polite
I give a nod or a wave all the time here. Rarely get anything back, mostly blank stares..
mind you Porsche's are a dime a dozen in these parts.
Easter Friday morning scooted downtown to my favorite place for breakfast first thing, very little traffic, must have seen and waved at 10 P-cars. Glad to see them out though, once the cherry blossoms are out so to the Porsche's.
thinking folks out for a morning burn before the traffic started up, is my favorite time of day.
folks in FJ's wave at me when I'm in the truck, never think to wave from that ugly brick. Same thing I guess.....
No worries on my part if someone doesn't notice or wave back. I've been in the situation of not seeing the wave or the flash of lights until it was too late to react.
