I replaced the stock Conti's on my '99 C4 with bridgestone pole position S03s - its a great improvement in sound (quiet) and feel.

My contis (01 AWD C4) seemed to be fine until about 8k miles, or maybe becuase the car wasn't used over the winter(?), but now the noise is so bad we can't talk to each otehr at speed, 70-85.

I have Conti's and they are noisy to a level that I find anoying. Much more noise than I get with my 928 (running Yoks). Is this the conti's or do C4s make more tire noise than C2s. Not that it should matter, but mine is a cab with the tiptronic. I want to change out the tires and need to understand what I can expect with another brand of tires. BTW, allignment is fine and wear is good. nothing is wrong, just too much tire noise...

My contis (01 AWD C4) seemed to be fine until about 8k miles, or maybe becuase the car wasn't used over the winter(?), but now the noise is so bad we can't talk to each otehr at speed, 70-85. My 99 had Pzeroes which at about 17k also got very noisy and wanted to follow road ruts too much. I switched to Michellin Pilots and that seemed to help a lot. Anyone with others ideas as to which tire would be quietest?

Just some further info. At about 12k I had to replace the rear tires because they had warn to the cords. Turns out I had an alignment issue. now have 25k on fronts and 13k on rears. The dealer gave me a "deal" on a complete set of the Contis. I still have a brand new pair of front tires. I think I will never use. the rims on both cars are 17s so maybe I will swap them to see if the noise abates with different (the Yoks) tires. Stil looking for some input on best tires for every day driver C4.........
