Suggestion
Yeah, I figure if I'm paying a big chunk of change anyway, then I may as well make it bigger by combining a few jobs, as I've already gotten over the pain threshold with the clutch.
Leading evidence: 'inspiration' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'inspiration' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ferd...I'm very glad this worked out for my buddy.
With all these I#% threads, I was hoping to see a blown motor, especially since you drive it hard all the time
Well hope everything works out and best of luck.
I DO NOT want to see you back in a GT3.
Ferdinand, your car has always been one of my favorite 911s ever. It was the inspiration for the build on my current car. Your car was my screen saver for ages. I think at $25,000 your car is a steal. I am sure it will sell quick.
I am at the end of a 4 year restoration on my 59 Maserati and I am going to be selling it to buy a coach, so I completely understand selling the 996 to fund the motorhome and toad. The memories that you make with your wife and kids will be priceless.
Hi everyone,
Im desperate. Sorry this isnt related to the main post, but wanted to see if any of you knew of a 1991-1994 Porsche 911 that is midnight blue or black with a tan interior. Hoping to spend under 35k (ive seen ranges from 21k-35k). Hoping for under 80k miles. Any of you have this and looking to sell?
Thx!
Where are the people who complain that they can't find a 996 with a competitive price? I am sure it will be followed with:
1. Its the color
2. Its not stock
3. Its the aerokit
4. Its the SC
5. Its just not right.....
Hey Wayne, I hope you and your family are doing well. The Maserati restoration has been an adventure. I had it in a local show, back in October, and had to pull the transmission right after to have it rebuilt for a second time by a more experienced shop. Here is a link to some pictures of the car when I showed it back in October...

Thanks! We're doing well. Life is crazy as usual and I'm about to start off on another travel binge where I'm gone for 6 out of the next 8 weeks, but otherwise life is good.
Sadly, I couldn't see the pics, as I'm not a ferrari chat member. Knowing your attention to detail I know it looks awesome. I can't wait to see it when the project is done.
Well this is interesting... the guy who is buying my car has a 964 widebody for sale... in blue, maybe it is his lucky week. PM me if you want his info...
Thanks Ferdinand. Congratulations on the sale of your car. Do you have any pictures of the vintage 911? I am sure that I am not the only one who appreciates the air cooled 911s.
Steve and Wayne, thanks.
Steve, I am going to buy either a Bluebird Wanderlodge or Prevost coach with the proceeds from the Maserati...no more car projects for a while. In the future, I would like to restore a vintage 911 or 930.
Whoever bought Ferdinand's car sure got a great deal. I can not imagine a nicer (or faster) car that anyody could buy for $25,000.
Well, I look forward to seeing the new toys, but I'm betting it's not too long before you end up with a new project.
Looks like I'll be holding onto my 996 for a while longer, as my clutch failed on the drive home this evening... I'll probably get the clutch and AOS (weeping) done at the same time.
Wayne, I'm sorry to hear about your clutch. I had my throwout bearing go out about a year ago. It destroyed the clutch. Mine was a Spec stage 2+. It was only about 2 years old...it was garbage. I switched to the Sachs performance clutch. It works very well with my LWFW. You are smart to do the AOS at the same time. Mine started leaking after I had the clutch replaced.
You are probably right about the project car....it is an addiction. I still love my 996 and plan on keeping it forever. Has your BMW spoiled you for the 996? Do you plan on keeping your 996?
I really love the look of the aero kit cars. It is Ferdinand's fault. His car was the reason that I bought the factory aero kit for mine.
Yeah, I figure if I'm paying a big chunk of change anyway, then I may as well make it bigger by combining a few jobs, as I've already gotten over the pain threshold with the clutch.
I would be willing to bet that you'll be shopping for another project car within 6 months of the Maserati moving on.
As for the M3 spoiling me - yes and no. They're such different beasts and I love them both. If anything I know I'm spoiled by having two amazing daily drivers. What the M3 has done for me is restored my desire to get in the seat and drive hard, which after so long of owning the 996 (and not driving aggressively) the M3 just brings it back out - well, owning it and doing the M Schools gave me a really bad itch for speed.
He is a great guy and loves working on cars. At one time he had 6 corvairs....one ran and the other 5 were parts cars. He is my DE pal and I fear he will finally pass me.
Currently he has 2 964 C4's. One was used in a Matt Damon movie. Door jamb says "Matt was here". The other is a black widebody. Your car came up at the perfect time.
well its done... I will miss her but, time to work on the 86. The 996 forum is a great bunch, I will be dropping in from time to time so keep the light burning.
Yes, laws of conservation.
Guys, Meet Darrell... he is now on the dark side and goes both ways. Glad she will be well taken care of. Once you have it all soaked in... give me a call and we can talk shop since its still fresh in my mind. Wish you well Darrell.
My pleasure with Darrell.....your car truly is going to a good home. If he treats it bad I'll do some squatters rights and take it
My deal is unfortunate but I'm working though it. Should be back on the road in 3 weeks. It's only money
I'll give props to the helpful hand.
Waiting for the transport truck to arrive next week. Feel all giddy like a little girl on Christmas Eve.
Just to be clear - yes, I might now swing both ways - but that IS limited to air-cooled vs water-cooled, and nothing else. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
So, what is this stuff called anti-freeze, anyway?
The black 964 went to a (very excited) new home today. So there is an empty stall ready for Ferd's car.
The car is "home" now. I have driven it a grand total of 3 miles. Beautiful car, wonderful sound, previously owned by an obvious fanatic. Can't wait to dive head first into it. My wife even likes it. My neighbor needs a drool bucket.
So nice to hear how much you like your new Porsche, welcome to the water cooled side. Ferd was a true enthusiast as no doubt, you are too. Nice to have a wife who shares your interests, and that your neighbor approves.
No worries. DE 3 weeks ago....3rd gear 6500 RPM felt slight vibration and sound of a fouled plug and the rest is history. The oil pan was full stuff. Found a transplant and should have it back next week. Me and Darrell plan on taking it apart to see what happened. I didn't post a thread about it just want to move on and keep driving.
Its a Thor Palazzo...
Thanks guys...
Chao... def next time, take it for a spin... its kinda slow compared to your beast, but it'll feel like your going very fast.
I was inside that house on wheels a few weeks ago and it is sweet. Cummings Diesel power plant with spacious room inside...
Have you hooked up the solar panels yet?
hope u don't sell the Harley. I'd been meaning to email u, that my Harley oil filter removal cap fits perfectly over the oil filter housing on our cars...but u probably know that already. Thanks for your help in the past and good luck-
