Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi.....very tough post to write....
My dream of owning a Porsche came true a month or so ago, but sadly I need to move it along. Absolutely fantastic car......
Work situation took a major turn for the worse and need to be liquid with my assets as best as I can.
I bought this car for $61k just a month ago from Danbury Porsche in CT. My tagline tells you about the car. I've added a great radio system, and it has Sirius radio paid for the next 11 months. It also comes with a great CPO warranty, basically the new one mimicks the new warranty, so only tires, breakpads, wiperblades, etc... not covered as they are normal wear items. 23.5k miles on the car. Upgraded the bumperettes to color match the Polar Silver. Also had the airbag deactivation kit installed with the car and can sell the car with the booster seat.
I will try to post some pictures tomorrow, but if anyone is interested please let me know on here or a PM.
Thanks, and hope to be back in a Porsche in the future......
Tom G in Newtown, CT
Thanks. I've waited a long time, and I guess I'll wait a little longer.
Beautiful car. Fully loaded, including factory PSE (which sounds amazing!) and alumilook interior trim very tastefully done. The interior treatment is one of the big reasons I chose this car, as well as the Polar Silver over Black full leather.
Yes, CT is getting hit hard. No, I'm not an investment banker, but rather work for an industrial manufacturer and business has dried up and layoffs are here. So, I need to think of family financial health ahead of my mental health.....
Tom
economy has hit the tri state area pretty bad. i've been looking for a job more than a month and i finally got a call today, but i'll only be getting min wage.
sorry to hear bout your position and that you have to sell your car, maybe sometime soon you'll be able to get another
^^^ What he said.
I would also put an ad on Craigslist. I always got a lot of traffic when using CL for my recent auto and motorcycle sales.
Best of luck Tom
Minimum wage?! For real? Dude that sucks. What will you be doing if you don't mind me asking? No offense but how does one live on minimum wage anymore?
Tom, you have your priorities in the right place. There are lots of Porsches and you will have one again. GL with the sale and hope things improve soon.
I realize the market is soft, and I wouldn't sell it if I didn't feel I needed to in order to do what is right long term. When income is most likely going to be cut off, my concern goes to protecting my wife and 6 year old sons future.
Hoping there is someone who will love and want the car. By far it was my favorite car I've ever owned.
Sorry to hear of the situation Tom - I may find myself in a similar situation very shortly (I work for Chrysler), I do not expect to be employed past November...
Best of luck on the sale and job search.
Tom ,
Sorry to hear that. I've got friends in the area (I'm just across the boarder) who are starting to feel things tighten. It's making me happy that I got out of the business world a couple of years back and switched to being a math teacher.
Tom, what awful news. Here in PA, things are dim for lots of folks - we have Merck here which has just laid off thousands of workers - including mid and higher level managers. The economy is just dreadful - sometimes I think us regular folks don't know how bad it really is. I'm just praying it doesn't get much worse. There will be other cars - your wife and son are clearly your priorities. GL!
I feel for you. I lost my job in August and have not having a lot of luck finding another one. I'm holding onto my cars now in hopes of better times.
GL with the sale!
Hang in there Tom, while putting your car for sale, I hope your networking for career options = hopefully the career side will stabilize for you before the car is sold.
Hey Tim - I love my 911, but my 2004 Honda is also a marvel of engineering. Our 4 year old Honda has 45k miles, has run PERFECTLY, is silent, efficient, and you can just 'feel' how well its drivetrain is engineerred.
My local Honda dealer service, over the years, is more efficient then my local BMW and Mercedes Benz has been. I was once lightly chastised by our Honda dealer in being 10 minutes late for a regular service appointment - I ultimately appreciate that, because it told me they value meeting commitments and are a highly disciplined dealer maintenance shop. I'm not saying a Honda is fun like a 911, but I do appreciate how well put together our Honda is and for what its target market is. I'm not crazy about flying Southwest vs. say, being up front on Singapore Airlines, etc, but I grudgingly admit Southwest is good at what it sets out to do. Same as Honda vs. Porsche.
Since you will need to replace it, have you considered trading it for another vehicle (plus the difference in cash)? You might get a lot more value than selling and rebuying another vehicle.
I'm from Newtown myself (NHS 1976), and my sister still lives there..I wish you the best of luck, not only is that area a hard place to find a job in, it is also very expensive and heating this winter will be a killer..you're doing the right thing, it's only a car...sucks you didn't have more warning, especially as the economy was looking pretty bleak 2 months ago. I bought mine in March this year, and was just telling my wife I'm glad I did, as I never would have if the market was tanked like it is now, and it would be difficult to sell in this economy. I've found best bet is Autotrader run till it sells option.
Thanks for all the support guys. It wasn't intented to be a sympathy email, but it is the sign of the times right now.
I waited a long time for this Porsche, so now will chalk it up to an "exotic rental" that lasted a while and will continue to smile when I see the p-cars drive by. Beautiful cars.....
I actually have a couple of people that are looking at the car around the asking price, so fingers crossed that there are still a few folks with cash and a driving passion out there! One is coming back to see the car on Thursday and I already asked for proof of funds and he has it in spades.
Time will tell....
For all those Rennlister's facing similar challenges I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
I can't add anything more than the other guys told you.
There is a an enormous international economic crisis. I know a lot of peolple getting into troubles because of it, but try to be positive.
I try to put myself in your place, and it's a dramatical decision.
Good luck friend and I'm sure that you'll have a 911 in a closer future indeed ,and surely better than your fantastic cabrio
sighh... look like it's here again. I lost my job after 9/11, lost all my stock, and then quickly lost many things after that. Having a job back not too long ago and here we are again. Everyone has been worry this time since might be much worse.
Good luck Tom.
Hang in ther Tom. Don't give up the passion. Keep reading, keep going to the meetings, and stay with the board. Because when times improve you'll be completely informed on what type of 911 to purchase next. The future will always be there awaiting you. Good luck.
Jay
Tom, good luck with the sale.
Don't know what line of business you're in, but you might also look at some heavy networking and reference-building with past colleagues on Linkedin.com.

I got laid off this week after 32 years. AT&T bought Bellsouth 2 years ago, I was BellSouth. They shutdown our lab in Atlanta. We saw it coming but didn't think they could do it for several more years. The 9 states in the SE are much different technically than the rest of AT&Ts network. The 85 billions they paid for BS is gone from their bottom line in the last few months.
I'm not complaining as I did get 1.5 years pay and am retirement eligible, but it still stings. At 55 I'm not really ready for the rocking chair, though some you younger guys may think so. My wife still works for the same company, for now, so money isn't an issue, but if the economy gets much worse, we could all be in trouble.
GLWTS. As others have said, 61k would be hard to get right now. There are TTs for sale in that range, though not from a dealer with CPO, but money is tighter than I've seen it since the early 70s. We have been on a really good run economically for a long time.
I think layoffs are about to start en masse. I heard today that over 600k laid off in October
smshirk, that sucks.
Been there, done that! In fact, I am getting ready to do it again. My last day on the job will probably be December 3rd.
The investors that own the grocery company sold 60% of the stores 3 months ago. Only skeleton corporate staff will remain after Dec. 3rd. Obviously, I am not one of them. I just started with the company on February of this year, and moved to Dallas. Oh yeah, and I still have not sold my North Carolina house.
The car is sold....to a fellow Rennlist'er.....
I'll let him properly introduce the car as a first time owner.....
I'll be watching and waiting for my return to a Porsche someday when my job situation settles out and times are better.
For now I guess I'll need on of those signatures now like Tim has for my current ride....an '04 Toyota. Yippee!
Tom
