Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

24 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Everyone seems to be posting pics of their new rides, so I thought I would finally post some. Purchased in Dec of 04, and been obsessively lurking this board since. Did the first hand wash and rejex application yesterday, the car is transformed! Here's the skinny on my C4: 2000 C4 ocean blue metallic/full supple leather grey interior purchased with 11,500 miles (put on 4K since!) 6 disc hi fi stereo K40 radar 18" turbo twist wheels rear wiper heated seats (no problems this past winter with my snowtires) Installed Fabspeed exhaust and cold air intake kit before even taking her home. I love the sound. Thinking about a SSK but not sure whether to go B&M or OEM, seems the difference is the B&M shortens by 35% and OEM only 20%. Would love some insight.

POST 2Original post

Now we can welcome you to Rennlist. You're not REALY welcome until you post a pic . Nice!!

POST 3Original post

welcom to the board i'm pretty sure the B&M and OEM are the same unit, except with a substantial price difference. I have the B&M and am very happy with it.

POST 5Original post

BTW, carefull with that rear wiper. If it accidently should flip back down in the wrong position while you're wiping the rear glass, it can leave a nasty scratch on the rear fender.

POST 7Original post

I really do miss my 2001 C4, great car!! Welcome!

POST 8Original post

jaxxon - Nice ride, good pic. I have never seen Ocean Blue in person. Is it similar to Lapis Blue? I have one "technical" question for you. Is the Ocean Blue the same color on both the East Coast and West Coast??? Welcome!

POST 10Original post

Jaxxon: Enjoy the experience and Welcome!... Nice ride!

POST 12Original post

Nice, go BM since you're out of warranty anyway.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks all for the welcome, today was a great day to be out there driving. What about the difference in the throw between B&M and OEM? 20% vs 35% seems like a big difference besides just price.

POST 15Original post

very nice color... NOW let the mod-addiction begin!

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

What do you guys think about wheel spacers to give the car a slightly wider stance in the back and fill out the space a little nicer? I am currently running 265/35 18's in the back. What size spacer will fit nicely and not effect the alignment/handling at all? I just had a 4 wheel alignment done...

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

BTW, i just became a registered member, awaiting my confirmation email... I love this board!

POST 18Original post

Congrats on joining Rennlist.....great car...have fun with it

POST 19Original post

Think no more than 10mm, your car looks great!

POST 20Original post

I don't think you info is correct. They reduce throw by the same amount.

POST 21Original post

I have the Porsche short shifter in our 996 and have tried the B&M - i didn't notice any diffrerence in the throws.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This is from the Performance products website, says the B%M reduces by 35% and the Porsche by only 20%. Do you mean the difference is not noticable? (i've omitted the prices because i'm not trying to sell them...) B&M Short Shifter by B&M B&Ms short throw manual shifter is CAD designed and engineered to be direct bolt-in replacement. The only tools needed to install it are simple hand tools! Working with some of the top racers, B&M engineers took what they learned in the real world racing environment and designed a professional grade shifter. By designing in key features, such as, a billet aluminum pivot housing, brass inserts and Teflon pivot bushings make these shifters the absolute best you can buy. The CNC machined 303 stainless steel stick provides the best leverage and reduces shift throw by 35% . Fit 5 or 6 speed cars. Genuine Porsche Short Shifters by GENUINE PORSCHE This short-throw gearshift mechanism offers a reduction in lever travel of approximately 20% . Precision enginerred for accurate gear selection, the result is a more dynamic driving experience.

POST 23Original post

First, when you rears wear out, replace them with 285/30/18's. Second, as far as spacers, Porsche makes only two sizes: 5mm and 17mm. These are for the front & rear respectively in order to gain the GT3 "stance". You will pay a tad more because of the Porsche name being stamped on them but my service advisor said that my wheel bearings will still be covered under warranty if they go out since I have OEM spacers on the car - and NO I did not even purchase the spacers from this dealership. Wheel bearings will wear out sooner if you add spacers but it's more like at 80K miles rather than 120K miles. Spacers do not affect allignment at all so no worries there. I'll see if I can locate a pic of my "stance" for you
