Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anybody remember their Pinewood Derby days?
I wonder how many racer's start at this level 9 years old. Hooray for my Granson
GO ANDREW!
He even established a track record for Southern Connecticut! His car is the closest on the starting gate!
Remember enough to know that if you hollow out a section in the front of the block of wood, add a fishing weight, and add filler and paint; that the car wins everytime. However, I don't want to give any suggestions that may compromise the morality of the Scouts for next year. One may argue that the Pinewood Derby is responsible for turning us into competitive car freaks.
Congrats!
Sure do! Here is a pic of me and my winning ride back in '79 when I was 8yrs old. Little did I know the slippery slope I would be on later in life because of that one race
Sorry for the poor quality but they are a digital pic of an old pic so I could post them.
He is a picture of my son's car that I posted in a previous post. My son is eight and we had a great time working on this project. I carved the body, but he did alot of the rest of the work.
Kris
I remember getting disqualified because the putty cracks gave it away. This was in the '70's with potentially biased judges. They let me keep my Bear badge, though. The shame of it all left me scarred for life.
ahhhh, the good ol' days of webelos
reminds me of the joke that i never quite understood until it "naturally" happened: When does a cub scout become a boy scout? - when he gets his first brownie
You see how you can take a topic like this. reminiscent, nostalgic, romantic, the kind of topic that just makes you smile thinking back to your younger days, the innocence of a 9 year old building his 1st racer and I bet he is so proud of it too. Not to mention how proud Don is of his grandson as he should be. You take a topic like this and just--well--right in the gutter. I love you guys!
Right back at ya Jeff!
I miss those innocent days of youth. I remember how much I couldn't wait to grow up and be an adult now it's just the opposite. Ironic isn't it?
Back in '86 I ran my pinewood derby car and beat my entire pack. I then went to regionals.
Well, a few weeks ago the Regional VP of my department had mentioned that his son's pinewood derby was comming up. I started talking a lot of trash about how my car won and it was great, yada yada yada... Anyway, he then tells me that their is going to be a separate race after all of the scouts go. A race just for the fathers. He told me that he was also building his own car.
Well, to make a long story short, the Saturday before last I went to the Pine wood derby with my 19 year old pinewood derby car. I was surprised that I was even able to find the car in good condition. I didn't make any modifications from when it was originally built. It passed the tech inspection and then went on to beat all of the other father's cars in the entire pack.
Yeah, they were all surprised that a 19 year old car could beat them all. Talk about re-living a shinning moment.
