Ran into a few issues but the sound is as good as it gets given the P's "Hi Fi" system and its acoustics.

The Belkin plug has a female end for a mini-plug that you can use for audio out to the receiver and it will all tuck behind the dash nice and clean.

I bought a generic cigarette lighter socket from the auto parts store and connected that behind the dash using the Telephone power cable 5001.524-276 from Becker connecting the power to the lighter to the IGNITION hot, that way it wont be powering the Ipod all the time thus draning the battery.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Heres my Ipod install; I used a Belkin power cable for the Ipod. I then used the cable from Becker, 1319.116-276 to connect AUX to the receiver. I encountered a buzz, so I also installed a ground loop isolator, # 270-054 from Radio Shack. As far as a mount, I bought a leather one on Ebay from Pods Plus and the back has a flap that holds on by friction. Well, there you have it. It is a very simple and effective way to do it. Good Luck Tom

POST 2Original post

Nice - you should paint the cable black. I wish I could do that.. I have a MOST (fiber optic bus) Porsche and you cannot do jack with it... I miss my ipod while in the car.

POST 4Original post

reception? its not an FM modulator - its direct wired. thats what the mini-plug on the belkin is for - audio.

POST 5Original post

ahhhh must be nice.. I dont think I can do that with mine right?

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yup, direct wired and sounds great. And 60 gig of music is wayyyyy better than 6 cd's in a changer. As for the cable, yeah I could paint it black but it really doesn't bother me.

POST 7Original post

Riozilla, I did a wired mod in my 40th. Ran into a few issues but the sound is as good as it gets given the P's "Hi Fi" system and its acoustics. If you want more info let me know as I put a pdf file together on it as I was getting too many questions on getting the bugs (EMI and limitations in the P's amp) ironed out. Simple job.

POST 8Original post

threeOH, thanks for the offer to share the PDF. I would definitely like to look into it. You can email the file to me at "rio (at) riozilla (dot) com" Thanks.

POST 9Original post

Great write up, Tom. I'll shoot this over to the DIY forum! threeOh, If you post a link to the .pdf file I can throw that in the DIY forum, too. Brian
