Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After reading numerous posts about batteries dying in cars that are idle for a couple of weeks, I was expecting the worst. I returned home today after moving temporarily to the northeast. I had left my car sitting outside in the driveway since early January. I had a cover on it and to my surprise when I removed the cover today the security light on the dash was still blinking and when I turned the key, it fired right up. I was very happy....

POST 2Original post

I'm glad it started for you. From experience, leave the car idle for long periods of time without a battery tender and the battery will last 2 to 3 years max! It'll look shiny and new and be as dead as a door nail.

POST 3Original post

It is also important to make sure that the water level in the battery is maintained. Be sure to use distilled water to top it off.
