Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

If you get a reader and read out your ECU, do you get the mileage associated with recorded events, or only the events? I got my car with 100mi on it from the dealer and it occured to me that I could get hosed if there was a type II before I got the car...
Lee, If you find a reader that will read an 04 please post the information. I purchased one but it will not read my 04 C2. Manufacture said they were working on it so I sent it back.. Good luck
If I am not mistaken it will only read the event and not the mileage. At least that is what mine does. Now if you got your hands on a PST2 then that is another story!
Lee,
Honestly, I would cross that bridge when you come to it. You probably will never have to worry about it, and if you do, it is too late anyway. The only time I worry about Type II overrevs is when I am interested in a used car, and then I request the readout from the seller or I am not interested in the car. The readouts I have seen describe only the number of ignitions (6 per second) at each "level" You only need to be worried about levels 4-6 (I believe), which represent missed downshifts. If they won't give it to me, I am not interested. But in your shoes, I would relax and use your time and money for other more fruitful endeavors. Just my two cents.

TD,
You're probably right, given that I already had it in when it was running rough and they didn't say anything.
I'm mostly using my time to agonize over whether to pop for an extended warranty. I can now estimate my annual mileage to be about 7000 give or take. That puts a $200 deductible, 7 year warranty in the $2000 range.
You can wait all the way until the manufacturer's warranty expires, you just pay increasingly more the longer you wait. It's a time value of money thing.
OK, but the knowledge you gain while waiting will probably be so valuable to your decision that it would be worth taking the risk that you will pay a little more at a later date. Also, you get to keep your money during the interim AND you will not have wasted your money if you sell or trade the car earlier than you expect or, God forbid, you wreck it. I would still wait . . . but that's just me.
