I've always installed mods myself to make sure I put my personal TLC(Tender Loving quality Care) during the procedure.

I put in the mufflers first, and ran the vacuum hoses to them, then I put the vacuum system in, and lastly I ran the electrical wires.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After searching coast to coast for the best price, I finally ordered my PSE(Porsche Sports Exhaust), P/N 000.044.200.21 for MY02 / 3.6cc engine. I recommend this guy by the way (I have no affiliation with this company. Just a very happy customer// Philippe Bourguet of www.Eagleday.com ) for their outstanding service and best price. Not only he beat the price of the big boys, but he made sure that he got the part expedited from GA to him and shipped the following morning to me. Even sent me the PET drawing to confirm the right part and also a PDF invoice. What an outstanding service.

POST 2Original post

Hi Mike, Do you mind sharing EagleDay's price for the PSE? I didn't see it on their website. Thanks,

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

$1400.00 including the switch. (Few months ago, I could find it on ebay for 1300/brandywine, now they want 1499 and wont go down.) They're in FL which is good shipping price for us in the right coast.

POST 4Original post

Thanks Mike. Are you planning on installing the switch? I wonder if EagleDay sells it for less without the switch. The switch would be nice but I don't know if I want to spend a lot of money to have it installed. Are you installing the PSE yourself?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ur welcome. Yes I'm installing it myself. I've always installed mods myself to make sure I put my personal TLC(Tender Loving quality Care) during the procedure.

POST 6Original post

The exhaust is a piece of cake to install but I hear the switch is another story. I don't really see the purpose of the switch as PSE is not that loud to offend anyone.

POST 7Original post

My PSE can be quite loud, particularly on cold mornings. I live in an area where there are many old brick townhouse, and the sound echoes off the buildings. I love the sound, but there are times when the switch is very nice so that you can avoid unnecessarily antagonizing the neighbors, avoid drawing attention from the boys in blue, and make the the car quieter when your SO is with you, which for me is significant.

POST 8Original post

Hi TD, Did you also install the PSE yourself or did you have it installed by a shop? Can you recommend a shop in NoVA? My buddy and I can do the muffler install but I am not sure about installing the switch ourselves.

POST 9Original post

I cut a deal with Porsche of Arlington when I bought my car, so it was installed as part of that deal. I know that Chuck at Myer-Emco in seven corners could do it for much less. I really like the switch, particularly around DC . . . You are more than welcome to come by to see and hear it if you like before you make your decision.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I agree Man. The car came with hi-performance bose sys which I don't even turn on 'cause I'd rather listen to the stock engine notes! I can't wait to hear the PSE's... and probably yank the sound sys out will make the car lighter anyways Although I know the wife will prefer the quiet cabin on long drives, but I think I read that on cruising it's not that loud. and as TD says, It would be nice to be courteous with the neighbors.

POST 11Original post

I like the fact that the default PSE switch position is "loud" rather than quiet.

POST 12Original post

If your going to install the switch yourself, thann I think it would be cool to have but I still don't think PSE is loud enough to warrant paying multiple hours of labor at $90/hour

90/hr and most of them will not even put the quality you expect

POST 15Original post

No, I wasn't, but I would have if you had asked!

POST 16Original post

it is just tedious. I broke my installation into 3 parts which I did at my leisure over 3 days. I put in the mufflers first, and ran the vacuum hoses to them, then I put the vacuum system in, and lastly I ran the electrical wires. I saw you have a link to my write-up on funcars which gives a little more detail. Once you understand how the relay support block and the jumper plugs that are there work, it is really easy. There are only 2 wires that go to the back of the car, and routing them under the carpet and through the grommet that is on the rear right side of the interior over the engine is easy as well. I have a PDF schematic of the relay block if you want it. Personally I have found myself turning the exhaust off for low speed low RPM situations, like getting stuck in traffic. I recommend hooking up the system.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks OE (Orient Express). Your write up and DIY at funcars is surely a big help for everyone of us who wants to know the car better.
