Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Dell, tempting to add to your collection, or to replace the P?

SRL - I test drove an SMG and I don't know what setting it was on, but every shift had a jerk to it.

I thought the system felt as if it were releasing the clutch just a shade too early and that the car was just for a split second using the clutch takeup to slow the car.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Sweet looking pics and ride. I am feeling bad about the condition of my chariot. Everyones car looks like a concour winner. I am being forced into a position of clean and wax.....
Nice ride - the ZHP package is sweet. Having just come from an '04 M3, there are a couple great boards where you can get up to speed on preferred mods, etc. - Roadfly and M3 Forum in particular. Those guys will be urging you to lower the car (Ground Control or PSS9s), get the painted front reflectors, short shift kit, etc...but the real hot ticket is the 4.10 LSD...keeps you in the fat part of the torque curve. Enjoy!
Wha, wha, what? Joined Chad...did you get rid of the 996? Say it isn't so! Your new M3 is pretty sweet but your supercharged 996 was one of my favorites on Rennlist!
ooooh.....competition package....good man....the CSL wheels look great on the car. Don't change them, just lower it, it'll look sweet!
I see you got the 6-speed. Did you try the SMG? Give me your thoughts. I've tracked both and found each has it's own benefits.
It's Interlagos Blue
SRL - I test drove an SMG and I don't know what setting it was on, but every shift had a jerk to it. The sales person said it was because the car was brand new? In either case since my 996 was a tip I've been dying for a 6speed.
Salespeople....gotta love them. It wasn't because the car was new, it was probably because you had it on one of the sportier settings. I really needed to mess around with it to get the shift feel I was looking for.
The one thing I don't like about SMG is the matched-rev downshifts it does. Everyone gushes about them, how they sound, etc. I thought the system felt as if it were releasing the clutch just a shade too early and that the car was just for a split second using the clutch takeup to slow the car. I didn't like it, and I know my feet can to a better job downshifting. Maybe not every time, but 95% of the time. I'd be interested to know about clutch wear on these cars now that there are 2 year old ones out there.
The upshifts, I thought, are great, and faster than I could pull off in a manual car.
Overall, it's a crap shoot, SMG and manual are both good. For peace of mind, I'd probably go manual too.
I've seen Chad on bimmerforums.com - s/n ChadsM3, I think.
