Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Oh and by the way all of the glass is being replaced today with shatter proof plexiglass.

Apparently, my youngest (10 year old) was playing ball last night and hit a" home run" from the neighbors yard and lost the ball.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Walked out to the garage this morning and found my 04 midnight blue C4S cab covered in broken glass with a baseball lying on the floor. Apparently, my youngest (10 year old) was playing ball last night and hit a" home run" from the neighbors yard and lost the ball. Well I found the ball perfectly intact and not a scratch on it however after removing the glass from the car, the hood, and drivers front quarter panel are covered with scratches and I think that they are deep. I can see what looks to be a white base coat under the midnight blue and yes you can feel them with your fingernail.
1. What do you all think? Can this be salvaged or am I looking at repainting the hood and quarter panel?
2. I live in central PA, does anyone have any recommendations to the best body shop for porsches here in PA. (willing to travel)
Oh and by the way all of the glass is being replaced today with shatter proof plexiglass. What a great way to spend your 40th birthday.
Answers:
1. No salvage. The "white" that you see is the primer coat. And that's deep. The hood will need to be refinished and completely painted as will the quarter panel. Do NOT let them spot finish it. It will need to be blended properly to match the rest of the car.
2. Can't help you on the shop.
Good luck.
Chad
Bring it to a good detailer see what he thinks. A lot of time dust and other crap sits in scratches and looks like primer. It may be possible to buff it out with a rotary to your satisfaction. Nothing lost of it doesn't work. I find it hard to beleive that just falling glass from the windshiel could scratch down to the primer.
Dude, that is really too bad. Sorry to hear it.
As my wife says; put two boys together and their IQ is reduced by 1/2. Put 4 boys together and it goes down to 25%....
I don't think it's from his windshield - it's from his garage window, which is most likely not tempered, which means it can fall in big enough pieces to definitely do that kind of damage.
Sucks....I like how your son "lost" the ball.....that's what I would have said too if I were 10 and knocked the ball through a window!
From your discription I would say you will need to repaint. Get it to the best body shop in your area and in the end you won't even remember it happened.
When I was a kid I stepped out of the garage and shot an arrow straight up. Then stepped back in the garage for protection. The arrow came down right on my Dad's Buick front fender! It left a big dimple right on top of the fender. He could not figure out how he got that dent and I never told till I was about 40. By that time he barely remembered the Buick.
Your story brought back memories. I think your son will remember this longer that you will. Go easy on him.
