Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
If the Panamera pans out (pun intended), they will bring us a 2+2 grand tourer with the same engine configuration and as a cross between the Carrera GT and the 911 Turbo in the 160K to 200K price range, with an eye to eventually replacing the 911 once and for all.

Suggestion
It is starting to appear like Porsche is testing the waters for a high end front engine luxury/performance GT, now that the hangover from the 928 has worn off.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

In case you have been on the moon, the long rumored introduction of the four door Panamera model in 2009 has been officially announced, here is a link:

$125K - $175K? It better kick a M5's *** royally....
Here's the official press release from Porsche, AG:

Here's the artist rendering included with the press release:
Boy, I am guessing the rear visibility is even worse than my cab with the top up, look at the tiny size of those windows -- hope it has rear-view video! That would be cool -- instead of a rear view mirror, it could be a 16:9 video screen and you could switch from your rear view to ****...oh, ahem, I digress.
Agreed
from cnn:
The company expects to sell at least 20,000 Panameras per year, according to the announcement, which would make it the company's most popular model by far. Porsche is currently on track to sell about 9,600 Boxster sports cars this year, about 14,000 Cayenne SUVs and about 8,000 911 sports cars.
I can't believe they will sell that many in proportion to the other models considering the huge price
Interesting times when the M5 is the bargain sports sedan - I think it will be family car when the time comes
The only risk I see is the price point: they should have aimed for the 100K-135K range where they are up against 760Li, S55, Maserati QP and similar cars. The Bentley Continental Flying Spur will be hard to beat, and the Ferrari 612 is a two-door (and costs north of 245K). The M5 doesn't have the looks, but would be a bargain price-wise.
Although i'm not a techie by any means - the fact that the M5 has a high revving V10 and other technical innovations means that I would probably go for that
its strange when the day comes that i think out of the super sedans the sportiest come in the follow order (sportiest first)
M5
RS6
Panamera
E55
or maybe i'm just missing the point and porsche is re-aligning itself up market into areas outside my demographic and its core customer base
sort of like VW with the Phaeton
Also, an idea
If the panamera takes off, porsche can bring out a proper 2 seater luxury grandtourer like the bentley continental Gt which looks like a huge slab-like turd on the road, and take 911 drivers who like luxury that route and re-align the 911 into something not quite as fat and heavy and is more in line with its racing heritage?
i think i'm annoyed because I can't justify even a used price on that car
oh well

(Look at the Aston Martin DB9 to see what I mean.) I sure hope I'm wrong....
on the price point - i think that is for the Turbo version (550 hp) there will be 2 other versions of the car as well to meet the production targets -Normally aspirated V8 and possibly a V6 version (the hardware is on the shelf with the Cayenne motors and i'm sure 4wd will be either standard or an option (derivatives of the cayenne system), 6 or 7 speed autos (or DSG) & Possibly a manual version.
The target looks like the S class and 7 series with cross over to the 5 series and E class at the lower power levels.
I'm still hoping for a new 356 however that would require a major expansion of the plants to build now.
My 2 cents
