Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

People are confusing (a) LATCH (stands for Lower Anchor Tethers for CHild seats), which holds the bottom of an infant or toddler seat to the bottom cushion with (b) the upper tether eye (U-shaped) that is used only for front-facing toddler seats (not for rear-facing infant or toddler seats).
Leading evidence: 'Use only' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use 3 point' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
The upper tether eye is needed to keep the top of the front-facing toddler seat from shifting around, using a strap and snaphook that comes with the toddler seat.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Can anyone confirm or deny that under the carpet in the rear are the hooks for the LATCH system for a baby seat?? Got a seat in the back no problem using the 3 point but would like to be able to use the LATCH,
I searched but have not seen anything definitive.
It's great being able to take my year and a half old daugher in the Porsche! Seh seems to love it!
Thanks!
Confirmed.
In my C4S there is a latch under the carpet.
You MUST use it-not an option.
Without it the child will bounce from side to side (ask me how I know).
John
Just slide your hand under the carpet and you will feel where to make your slot in the carpet! That's what I did in mine.
My 7 months old seems to like it too
Are you sure about that? There is a rear seat tether behind the rear seats under the carpet but I don't think there are lower latch connectors.
Perhaps this is different on different years.
For the tether attachment in the rear, the carpet is pre-perforated and easy to spot from the top. I have an '01 and no lower LATCH connectors.
Any other car that I have or currently have with LATCH is easy to find and I believe according to the manufacturer spec, there is a visible small round marker indicating their position. I am still skeptical that there are hidden lower connectors...
LATCH is just another way to hold your infant or toddler seat down in place of a seat belt. The upper tether eye is needed to keep the top of the front-facing toddler seat from shifting around, using a strap and snaphook that comes with the toddler seat.
I have a 2001 coupe and it does not have LATCH. It has the upper tether eye, which is hidden under a U-shaped perforation (which you have to cut) in the carpeting behind the top of the rear seat backs. Your owner's manual shows where the upper tether eye is located.
Seat belts are designed to stretch several inches in case of a collision.
Then they must be replaced. That stretch is what could save your life or injury,
specially a child.
I would not remove the belt.
Yes, in my 02 C4S the tether is right under the already pre-cut carpet.

But Baby seat needs to be as firm as possible and it has its own seat belt.
[QUOTE=MTB;5838636]
Yes, but baby and seats and all are secured by the regular seat belt... which would
stretch as part of the life saving process. I would not remove it
