Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

In any event, if you get denied by one dealer, you can swap out the entire shift gate with another Porsche (really very easy to do), take the car to a different dealer, get the repair done, and then swap back in the original shift gate.

Anyone here with the B&M test drive a 997 or a 987 yet?

With the kit, shifting far better and safer provdied that you are using the proper shift technique (i.e., hitting neutral before shifting to another gear rather than going directly from one gear to another, which increases the chances of a misshift).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just got done with the install and a quick test drive to verify operation. Can't believe I hadn't done this before! Between this and the PSE I can't stop smiling when I drive.
Thanks to Todd (TD in DC) for sending me his duplicate SSK! This is an extremely easy install. Took about 1 hour and the most difficult part was getting those darn plastic bushings broken off to remove the old shifter. Other than that, piece of cake. I did mark the shift cables where they rested inside the sleeves so they went back in exactly as they came out. Off to go drive for no reason at all but for fun!!!!
Cheers,
Dell
It's the B&M SSK. It is so incredible. I don't think I can even describre it accurately. But,,,,,here goes. Instead of the long throw from gear to gear it feels like it only travels about an inch to N and then to another inch to the next gear. Literally, you could go through the entire range of gears (excluding R) without moving your arm and just moving your wrist. I can post a quicktime but not sure how to do host it. Filming it is a piece of cake.
Another thing, it feels like it goes in and out like notches instead of that long smooth sweeping gear shifting of before.
Hey Dell,
I am glad you like it as much as I thought you would. With the kit, shifting far better and safer provdied that you are using the proper shift technique (i.e., hitting neutral before shifting to another gear rather than going directly from one gear to another, which increases the chances of a misshift).
You will like it more and more over time.
With the extreme difference in feel, can you see why I was concerned about installing it before your first DE?

c70....there was a thread posted recently about B&M $199. Do a search.
Todd, totally understand what you said about the install post-DE! I love it now and can't wait to try it out at the next event after a little practive in everyday driving. Actually, just took the wife for a spin and had her try it out, she loved it too!
OK I want one. I can search the world for this, but can someone tell me where to go to get best price and delivery. Prices seem to be all over the board...
Thanks.

Hey -- I'll bite on that offer if your "unopened box" unit will fit in my early 1999 C2 Cab. I'm in San Diego and I'll pay the shipping. I can make your payment in any form you'd like.

Chad.....I know I know I know......It was just one of those things I finally just decided to take the plunge and now I can't believe I didn't do it sooner...like PSE, sport suspension and list goes on an on.......help me, I can't stop!
B-Wine will NOT sell for $199. They were the first one's I called since I have spent thousands with them over the years. Justin's best price was still only $229.
Anyone here with the B&M test drive a 997 or a 987 yet? These have the Porsche SSK, which reportedly is just a re-branded B&M. I'm trying to get as accurate a comparison as I can. I like the standard throw of my 996, but I like the short throw of the 987/997 better. I'd hate to get the B&M, only to find out its's not the same as the 997 SSK and not like it.. Sorta like the enemy of good is better, know what I mean?
I guess the corollary to the question is, if I don't like it, can I put the stock one back?
You can put the stock one back.....I kept mine in case though should ever happen (which I doubt). You can either use the B&M bushing or go buy new Porsche ones since you cut the old ones out during the B&M install.
Make you stop!!! You are talking to the wrong dood.
I encourage and recommend mods. (hand raised) I too am a mod-a-holic. And I LIKE IT!!!
Chad
BTW- did you get that spoiler on? I ordered mine Monday.
Not sure...hopefully some of the others can chime in. I know that some have posted that they were asked to put the stick shifter back in for work related to tranny.
I don't see how. First, the shifter itself really affects very few parts. In other words, I cannot imagine a warranty eligible repair that can be claimed to have been caused by installation of the shifter. In any event, if you get denied by one dealer, you can swap out the entire shift gate with another Porsche (really very easy to do), take the car to a different dealer, get the repair done, and then swap back in the original shift gate. Second, I don't think you would ever have to worry about it in the first place, particularly because the exact same shifter is available from the factory.

That's why you need to be super nice to your dealer, just like you need to be super nice to your waiter. I have never had any problems whatsoever, and I have even had dealers go to bat for me on things they know they probably should not have. It's all about relationships . . .
Pocono this sat/sun with nnjpca. You should do watkins glen ,it is the king of all tracks in the ne. Metro ny pca has a 2day at lrp this summer, also check out pdadrivingschool.com, they do a lot of eventsat lrp, wg.
I just booked my hotel for watkins glen over july 4th. Potomac is going there for a three day event. For the first time ever, I will be taking my wife, three kids under 2 years old and two nannies. I think I will have to ship my car up and drive the minivan with he clan
I rented all the rooms of a B&B so that my family would have enough room and be happy. It is crucial to the future of my addiction that this weekend goes well. I have heard that Watkins Glen is beautiful and that there is a lot of non-track things to do. I hope so. Any recommendations on nice restaurants, activities, etc . . .
There is a whole list of places and 'attractions' on the metropca website, check it out. You will love that track, I did 150 on the back straight last yr. The track is the next best thing to Barber. Bring a set of brake pads and familairize yourself with the diy on them. You may want to invest in a set of track rims/tires. One more thing, there ain't NO concessions in the pits, bring everything you need and be sure and try to get a indoor garage space.
FWIW,my avatar shows a shot from last october, that viper just can't keep up!
DE's are for ALL types of cars.....not just the rocket cars. A well seasoned driver could turn out a better time in your C2 than a rookie in a GT3. Hope that helps!
NOW GO HAVE FUN AND TRACK THAT THING!!!!!!
