Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Local discount tire store said they located the last Pilot Sports 285/30/18 in their system for my rear tires. Got them put on and everything is great right???? Well now, after 250 miles, i run my hand over them and they feel like sandpaper. Just rubbing my hand back and forth over them I get all these little rubber pieces(like sand grains) on my fingers. My fronts don't do this(but are 2yrs/15K miles old). Is this normal or did I get sold some defective/old shelf life tires??? Anyway to tell the age??? tia as always

POST 2Original post

The tire will have the date of manufacture on it. Also, what is the "N" rating on the tire? Which Pilot Sports did you get. The 285/30/18 OEM N-spec tire is the PS Rib (N1). The PS2 is N-spec (N2) but only in the 295/30/18 size.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's the PS Rib (N1) as it was what is already on my car. I've already looked for a date but will recheck it. What date(s) would make them UNacceptable and make me take them back to Discount???

POST 4Original post

Don't run your hand over the tires and you'll be fine. Normal for the first several hundred miles or so on new tires.
