Costs about $500 for the full kit, but well worth it in the long run IMHO.

Now with that said, I agree that there is a good use for the clear films.

Some manufacturers use several pieces of clear film to cover the front bumper.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

for the car of course! Want something that covers front part of quarter panels near the headlights as I get rock chips there as well.
Was about to by the speed lingerie one until I saw it did not cover this area AND the Price - WOW!
I believe the porsche one has the coverage I need but am weary about the porsche bra doing it's own damage to my paint on road trips...
Any suggestions???
I've had a Speed Lingerie Bra for over 3 years and am very satisfied with it. It is interesting that the cover that fits on the leading edge of the hood has a little lip on it. This acts as a airfoil and actually lifts stuff up and over the hood. On the sides it covers up to the top of the bumper cover, but I have not had a problem with chipping on the front leading edge of the front fenders.
Given that each bra is hand made to order and in the color of your car, it is worth the price.
I wouldn't have thought that I would need "coverage" on the fenders yet slowly but surely, I'm getting little knicks here and there..........frustrating. I have never liked bras but am beginning to understand their purpose/usefullness
Another Word...StonGard (do a Goggle). I have done this with all my cars. Costs about $500 for the full kit, but well worth it in the long run IMHO. They can also cutomize additional coverage as well (for a price)
I totally agree. I have the 3M stuff - 1pc full bumper wrap, lights, front part of hood and fenders, a little bit behind each wheel. The film is tough and hardly visible. Now, I do notice you have a black car so you might try to ask for some pics of black cars with the film.

There are advocates of both methods. What the clear film proponents won't bring up is that after 2 or more years of their clear film being blasted by road debris, that the car looks just as bad if not worse than if it had no protection at all. The clear film will "take the bullet" all right, but it will also leave the nick in the film as well. In addition, the edges of the film tend to accumulate road film, wax, etc. so that over time the film will acquire a grey outline.
Now with that said, I agree that there is a good use for the clear films. I use them to protect my aero rocker panels, and the bottom edge of the rear bumper cover. This material does well there, and the visual disadvantages of the material is not obvious.
Whoa whoa hold on there tonto! I haven't seen a single clearbra that looks worse after two years than the front of a car NOT protected. Bugs wipe right off, road debris bounces right off with NO marking, and small rocks the same. I would be happy to post a pic of my front and there is no difference between today and the day it was installed.
But with that said, front of car protection is like exhaust notes and tires, each person will like something different. It's a personal taste thing. If I had to ever get an old school bra, I would definitely get one of the color matched ones like OE picked up. Very nicely done. Pricey but nice.
I've to agree with LVDell as well. I drove my car for a month before getting the 3M done and already saw a few chips on the bumper. However, after having the film installed, I have seen no markings whatsoever on the film. I believe most road debris just bounces off the film. I also have no yellowing of the film. When my new CT gets here, 3M will be done first thing.
But again, same as LVDell said, this is one of those personal preference thing...
thanks bull for the advice - anybody with pics of a clear bra on a dark colored car???
might be leaning towards speed lingerie at this point. OE - i'd like ot get that clear bra thing for my rocker panels like you did. who/what type of company did you contact to do that???
LVDell and I agree that it is a personal thing, Both camps will defend their favorite method to the death!
To Lizard's question about installation of film on rocker panels, I actually did the work myself. I used 3M Scotchcal Paint protection film. This stuff comes in 84" rolls in 4", 6" & 12" rolls. You can get it at your local 3M automotive products jobber, or the 4" roll is available from the Eastwood company. For the faint of heart, most Stoneguard, armourfend, Clearbra, etc installers can install this stuff as well.
For those interested in pics for black, check here for a custom full bumper wrap, rockers, hood bonnet w/ wrapped edges......

I've got a black car with the clear film on it too. It's a work of art if it's installed properly . It is by far the best investment I made. Here a couple things I learned:
1. You get what you pay for. Pay someone who's an expert. Ask to see some of their work on dark cars. I called up one installer and he told me he doesn't do dark cars, too difficult. Make sure you get an expert.
2. Not all clear films are the same. By that I mean, some films have an orange peel look to them. Others are completely clear. Go with the completely clear film, especially for a dark colored car.
3. Not all kits are the same. Some manufacturers use several pieces of clear film to cover the front bumper. Others manf. cover the entire bumper with just one piece. I prefer the one piece cover myself. It doesn't show any seam lines.
I live in Michigan and the winter's are real bad here. The car has gone through two winters now, it's a daily driver, and when clean it looks as good as the day I got it put on.
Here's one little story for you. I was pulling into a parking space at the office garage last winter and hit a spot of ice. The front bumper tapped the concrete wall. After close inspection the film ripped but the bumper was just fine. Installer cut the damaged film away and replaced it. Cost: nothing. It would have cost quite a bit to repair and repaint without the film. Do it!! You won't regret it!!
