Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The other day going home I ran over a 2x4 on the frwy (I just LOVE Houston! ) and didn't have time to react. The end result was my front right Kinesis Supercup is broken. There were leaks from about 40% of the fasteners when the wheel/tire was submerged in water. So now I have my stock 17" twists back on and the wheel went off to Kinesis today. I hope they can fix it (replace one of the inner or outer portions) but if not a new wheel will be purchased. I'm almost tempted to sell these once I get the wheel back and buy a one-piece wheel and not worry so much about wheel damage. The dealer replaced one of my rear wheels because it had a crack in it so I will have 2 new wheels and 2 older wheels. Anyone else have issues with Kinesis wheels? Is this normal for a 3 piece wheel? I had 18" BBS RXII's on my S4 and 18" BBS RC's on my 337 and NEVER had any problems with wheel damage.

POST 2Original post

You hit a 2x4. It is very likely that you would have bent your stock wheel or any other wheel for that matter

POST 3Original post

A 2x4 is a much softer impact than the foot deep potholes I've hit with my stock rims. I've never had a problem with them. Basically you're saying that a 2" deep pothole in soft pavement would bend your rim. We have expansion joints that are off by more that 2" around here. Unless I am missing some point about wood vs. potholes. I'm no expert, but I've never bent a stock rim on any car, but I've had aftermarket Moda (crap, I know) and Oettinger wheels bend.

POST 4Original post

You shouldn't be surprised that you suffered wheel damage. After all you hit a sizable object at freeway speeds. I doubt you regularly ran over 2x4's with your BBS wheels.
