This is not a probability of success.

I've been told it's easier to use and faster to locate distinations than PCM1 - oh, and it has a single CD player rather than a cassette player - this is used for route CD's and audio CD's.

My unit has the single CD slot which one must use to load the nav CD data and then use for subsequent music CDs, sounds like its PCM 2.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Taking delivery next month of a 2003 model C4S equipped with PCM. Car was built in October of 2002, will it have PCM 1 or PCM 2? I am told the latter is better, what is the difference exactly? Thanks in advance for sharing your collective wisdom with a first time user. <img border="0" alt="[byebye]" title="" src="graemlins/wave.gif" />

POST 2Original post

I have a 2003 November build C2 and mine arrived with PCM2 - my dealer told me his October cars had PCM1 (apparently this caused a stink with UK customers who expected PCM2). I'm really pleased with PCM2. I've been told it's easier to use and faster to locate distinations than PCM1 - oh, and it has a single CD player rather than a cassette player - this is used for route CD's and audio CD's. Once you've selected your journey you can swap to audio CD - but my experience is that the CD changer works better here - less hassle. Greg

POST 5Original post

Hi all! I'm hoping someone can help! I have an 03 c4s with the bose, non-nav, radio. I just recently on eBay bought the PCM 2 headunit only (just the screen unit) to try and get the factory navigation system in the car. I can't find anyone to help me with the other parts that I need to do the retro fit. I thought it would be pretty "cookie cutter," but I can't seem to get anyone who know what parts i need without taking about the center console. Can you help with the parts needed and any install advice? I would really appreicate any light you could shed. I'm lost! Thank you, Jon Pirie [email removed]
