I am assuming it is because it was disconnected from the power which tends to reset most window functions in cars.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just fixed the rear driver side window lift and now the window does not automatically close when the top is closed. I am assuming it is because it was disconnected from the power which tends to reset most window functions in cars. Unfortunately I cannot find out how to reset this particular one. I have tried holding the window up for a while after it stops, I have tried doing the totally down, hold, totally up, hold. These are not cutting it so far. So I am thrilled to have the window fixed and working - now I need the auto function back. Thanks for your help.

Which window switches did you hold in the up and then down position for 10 seconds? That is the only non-porsche tool reset I know of.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I tried the back left switch only as that is the only one that was disconnected and the only one that is giving me issues. I'll try another if that is suggested. Here are some more details. The window lowers automatically when the top is opened, it just does not come up automatically when I close the top like it should. It works like it should if I use the switch though... hmm.... what gives?

POST 4Original post

I believe to reset the windows you need to do the fronts...all the way up and hold and all the way down and hold.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

both at the same time or one at a time?

POST 6Original post

I do it one at a time...I looked in my service manual and found this tidbit:

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks - you know I read that when was I was doing the repair and think I tried what it says but for some reason I got nowhere. It sounds easy enough, but I wonder if I don't actually follow what that is saying. For one I do not have a hardtop so I am not sure why it mentions that part, but nevertheless I guess I will go back and fully open the convertible top and then hit the close button and hold it for as long as I can stand it. Is that the "button" you think of when you read that? thanks again. If anyone else has been here before please chime in...

POST 8Original post

scb71, I think it should read convertable top closed OR hardtop fitted. The rear windows are blocked out when the top is open/off- that may stop them from being reset by the BLOCKAGE DETECTION function.
