Both sets of wheels are nice, but I like the 2nd set better.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've decided to change up my wheels again. Seems to have become somewhat of an annual ritual. I guess it's an easy way to get a different look from my car each spring. Well, let me know what you think. The SSRs are new, the DPEs were new from last fall... I may sell the DPEs, but have not yet decided. UPDATE 8/23/09: DPEs are up for sale. https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=19575

POST 2Original post

wow new wheels every yr!! they really are like shoes to you. haha looks sweet and you can switch'em back and forth. i really like the dpe's over them ssr's tho.

POST 3Original post

You are making Imelda Marcos jealous! Both sets of wheels are nice, but I like the 2nd set better.

POST 4Original post

wow !!! can't decide, both sets look great. the car looks very nice, perfect ride hight and clearly well maintained.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well maybe not as bad as Imelda Marcos, I don't hoard them in the garage while my kids starve... hmmm, at least I think the're not hungry?? Eventually I will sell whatever ones I don't keep. My car has the M030 sport suspension package, which I believe lowers it a tad. The DPEs seem to give the car a more "classy" look, while the SSRs look "sportier". The DPEs are also slightly lighter in that they are 100% forged (20lbs F, 22lbs R). The SSRs are semi-forged, but still relatively light (22 F, 23.5 R). Both are 18s. The car came with 19" Champion RG5s, but I just thought they looked TOO BIG, so I reverted back to 18s. Note the Kicker skate ramp in the back. It's attached to a quarter pipe on the other end (28 ft total)... my kids have their toys too!

POST 7Original post

not a fan of the ssr's.... but they look great on you car. I prefer the dpe's.

POST 9Original post

I'm partial to SSR's too...have em on my Boxster, but in the gunmetal grey center versions. But, in your pics, I agree with most here, and think the DPE's look better on your car. Maybe cause it looks like the SSR's need spacers.

POST 10Original post

Your car looks so good with the new wheels. it just became my desktop background. Thanks.

POST 11Original post

Well they both look great. Maybe the DPE's have a little different offset, they appear to fit more flush in the rear?

POST 12Original post

Sell them both and get your Champion's back...

POST 14Original post

#2 - The boxster looks nice with the other ones though - It's only a one year commitment, so even if you are "wrong" in a year it wont matter

POST 15Original post

Agree with others on DPE's, better offsets and fit... Cheers,

Very nice! The gunmetal looks awesome on your Boxster.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the input. I'll have to measure the offset difference between the DPEs and the SSRs. Maybe a small spacer will give them just the right offset. For now I'm going to stick with the SSRs. Something about the Porsche center caps seems to make the subtle difference for me.

POST 18Original post

I like the SSR's. If you need spacers I have 7 and 15mm and bolts.

POST 20Original post

Thanks man. I think if you use a spacer in your rears, the SSR's will look pretty good on your car. Great looking bodykit btw.

I'll measure them when I get a chance and let you know. It may take a week or two since I'm getting ready to go on vacation. I want to compare them to the DPEs and see what the difference is before I decide for sure. Thanks, -- Jeff

Thanks Man! I love the way it looks... and sounds. I have the IPD Plenium, CAI (K&N and AIM dry filter combo), Cargraphic headers and exhaust. Also packing a B&M short shifter and K40 2000P radar and defuser. They look the same to me, although I have the benefit of seeing them in person. I'll measure them and post the results. Na, I just didn't like the look. Excuse me for saying, but the 19s looked too much like wagon wheels. They seemed big for the car. IMO Thanks for all the feedback!
