Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It is amazing some of the prices that I am seeing for 996's. Just found this one on Craiglist in Chicago
http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/ctd/1333656739.html
$14,250 FOR A 2000 CAB
Don't know the car, and who knows what the seller means by "Low Miles." But the pictures look pretty nice. And $14,250 is close to what a remanufactured 3.4 engine is costing these days.
Kind of scary for those of us who own an 996, but there are great opportunities for those who are looking to buy.
You're going to hell for pointing out these prices. If I pissed and moaned about my car losing value I would never enjoy the damn thing, however. SPEC racer does come to mind!

I also saw an 08 range rover sport for 15K which is also a HUGE scam...because they still go around 35K
drive until you drop and sell when you feel it is time for a change...like I do (2 small children and no place in my garage)...but if you have to sell because you need the money....you are screwed!!
Scam! The same ad is in my area as well. Notice the whole ad is an image. He must have used some free application to convert it since you can see weird text if you highlight the whole pic. Must be a way so we cannot google his ad to find out that he posted it everywhere.
And from my searches on Autotrader.com, 996 prices are recovering nicely. Yeah, you see the scams, so those don't count. And you see the heavily beaten 996 for dirt cheap, and those don't count, any more than the ridiculously high and clueless asking prices on the For Sale by Owner (who has no idea where the current market is for his year and model and options list). Those folks generally live in the middle of nowhere and are isolated by the real market forces. They think they are driving some rare collectible.
I love the three prices at the bottom of each page that tell you the HIGH, LOW and AVERAGE price for all of the cars in the search reults.
Makes ME feel a whole lot better.
The occasional low-ball Craigslist scam-car-du-jour is a total throw out when it comes to 996 pricing and the real market. It is to be ignored, rather than considered.
There's someone around here selling a pretty nice higher mile but nicely modded 2000 C2 for about $18k.
I've heard he just needs the cash, so there are folks that just need to sell....
My bad guys. Did seem a little too good to be true. Maybe I should respond and bring the cops with me to a "cash sale." Think I will just stay uninvolved. Hope no one ends up getting ripped off.
