As mentioned by Thundertub, check the stampings on the exhaust and report them back to us so we can look it up in the PET catalog.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 2Original post

Start by looking to see if there is a switch on the dash for the sport exhaust (looks like exhaust tips, well actually more like "goggles"). If the switch is not there, then check the mufflers themselves - see link below for more detail and pics. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...t-exhaust.html There are also several aftermarket or "modified" possibilities. If you can't tell, take some pics of the cans and post them.

POST 3Original post

Have you checked you options sticker that is inside your front hood?

POST 5Original post

Boss, When you open the trunk lid, look UP not down. The option sticker is normally affixed to the inside of the lid. White sticker with a bunch of 3 and 4 letter/number gobbledygook. That gobbledygook can be transcriberd right here because all of those codes are posted on this website. If the sticker is not there, then perhaps your local Porsche dealers can get you a printout based on your VIN which is that shiny metal plate you were looking at. The VIN is also on your state vehicle registration form, and the title. As for the sport exhaust system, you need to crawl under the back of the car when the motor is dead cold and look around for some stamped info on the mufflers. It may be an aftermarket exhaust rather than PSE. That is not necessarily a bad thing. Just tell us what you find. You will need a flashlight for that part of the search. Often the manufacturer stamping is on the side where the pipes are, rather than in the wide open flat spaces you can see easily.

Alternatively, you can look at your Owners Manual, it has all your option codes in it as well.

POST 8Original post

It may not be on the option sticker though as soon after mine was purchased the PSE was installed by the dealer at a later date. So I don't have the switch or the option code listed but I do have the receipt and the wonderful sound that goes along with the exhaust. As mentioned by Thundertub, check the stampings on the exhaust and report them back to us so we can look it up in the PET catalog.
