This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

24 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

so for the 996 part sunset quotes $119, the book shows a 997 part also ? it is $57 I need a new one - express opinions please OH - Silver ?? aftermarket?

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok. Nevermind, I saw the 997 one - ewe yukk

POST 3Original post

Any pictures of the 996 vs. 997? Try ringing Sunset tomorrow and ask for clarification. I like the idea of the Silver crest, but the factory gold one matches my wheel center caps, so there is nothing pushing me to change it

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK so at first I didnt get it... they look the same - then I asked and GOT IT The 997.1's use what looks like the exact same one as we have (hense the confussion on my part... 1/2 the price???) BUT the GT3's had a "new style in the early models which is now standard on all 997.2's I looks really cheap and like an injection molded piece of plastic. Very smooth outter surface and no raised surfaces... BLAH !! - looks cheap as hell - same colors as the original........ I am having a 996 sent up and it will be here Tuesday (hopefully) as my car is getting closer... what once was yellow is now BLACK !! I never did get the weights on the 2 hoods, but I can tell you the GT2 hood is 30 pounds lighter OHHHHHH - any one interested in a drivers front OEM fender new in box??? - we didnt use it, but bought it...great, now its mine...... sell at dealer cost (I will know monday what that is)

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The paint looks beautiful and they tweeked the frame so the hood/fender/headlight/bumper alignment and gaps are so awesome. I never realized how bad they were until they were fixed right. It feels good to have it right, it feels bad being a fool when I bought it. Live and learn I guess.

POST 12Original post

Wow...looking great! So... what do YOU do while she's in the shop? I drove my F-150 through gritted teeth... Looking forward to "after" pictures! Rudy

POST 13Original post

Carrera Classic IIs. Great wheels........bugger to clean (I have them too)

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks! Yea, love the wheels, found an easy way to clean them. I bought a really simple and big, long bristled soft brush. I keep up on them, but its easy to with that. A couple coats of Rejex helps too! Been driving a Chrysler 300 - by far the worst new car I have been in - I let the truck sit since the insurance paid for the rental....

POST 15Original post

Rennlist sponsor BumperPlugs.com has the Silver crest hood ornament for $180. They look really good on a dark car.....

Ed, .............. and they are shiny!!!

POST 18Original post

Ed, I would like to see your old hood, and car when it gets out of the shop. My car was originally a daily driver up in the Sinammish (sp??) highlands, and got sand and rock chipped during the winters. Johnny

POST 19Original post

I say you put one of these on there. Why be like everyone else??

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I thought of the silver one - I know it would look great on black... but I saw somewhere that there is a reason Porsche never offered a silver one - something to do with the original family crest... so no silver - the new one arrived from Sunset today new crest, gasket and nuts - about $120 For sale - old one...... $50

POST 21Original post

I can't say for sure why Porsche never offered a silver badge, but IIRC the Porsche badge is based on the Stuttgart coat of arms overlayed on the Wiemar-era Freier Volksstaat Wrttemberg (Free People's State of Wrttemberg) coat of arms. Those are better represented in gold. 583px-Coat_of_arms_of_Stuttgart_sized.png 675px-Wappen_Volksstaat_Wrttemberg_(Farbe).svg.png
