Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I picked up a 1999 Ocean Blue/Beige coupe a couple of weeks ago. Coincident with this, I sold my 89 3.2 Targa. They are shown in the attached photos. The new car is in nice shape in and out. I had the front bumper resprayed right away to get rid of the rock chips and had the interior leather touched up. Looks like new now! I'm quite happy with the way it drives in comparison to the prior car, especially in terms of power and AC. There are a few things in need of possible attention. There seems to be some racket up front in the steering/suspension. Having looked around the forum a bit, i thnk it may be the tie rods. The passenger seat has lost an adjustment cable, so the rear does not move vertically. There seems to be a little clatter at start up, which stops right away, like some metal pieces are loose somewhere. Also, I need to have a look at the sunroof drains as there is small water stain at the rear on the driver side. Other than that, it's a nice ride!

Nice! Mine has a little knocking noise up front as well - I'm guessing a suspension component is worn and I'll get to it when and if I do the shocks. You could have a loose baffle inside a muffler. Does it do in only when cold or all startups? Just have a friend start it while you listen from each side maybe while looking under the rear end (sounded funny didn;t it!) I've heard that some 996 header pipes actually bang together and cause a noise like you are describing. If so, a muffler shop or independent Prosche repari facility can fix it.
rattle = drop links, dont buy them local.... order thru Sunset when you are sure thats whats wrong... simply remove the wheel and rap the anti-sway bay with your fist (kind of hard)... hear a rattle... drop links
welcome to this side - nice care though I am sure it was tough to trade off the old one too.
Killer blue color! Love it. What's with the Model A - is that a shot of your 911 being carried away, with that old car sharing the ride?
PS--I'll give you the obligatory "Harvest the pumpkins!"
Nice! I really like the color.
You said it clatters on startup and then the sound goes away immediately. It sounds to me like you are describing the sound a lot of these cars make immediately after startup, which then ceases in a second or two. I was told by mechanics in the know that the sound is from the variocam system and the hydraulic tappets. Both systems need a second or two after start to re-fill with oil. My car has made that sound for the entire 52,000 miles that I've driven it over the past 3+ years - with no ill effects whatsoever.
Enjoy your car and drive it often! :-)
Thanks guys. The clatter at startup may well be exactly as described by 450knotOffice. It's a muted clatter seemingly in the engine that imediately fades away.
It really was sad to see the 89 go off to its new owner. If I didn't live in the desert, I'd not have sold it. Guy that bought it lives in a climate where the delete AC.
Re: the old Ford. There were some other relics in that trailer.
996 newby doesn't understand 'lose the pumpkins'. Headlights? I'd love to lose the orange, but I'm not about to spend $1+ on new headlights.
thanks

those headlights are not easy to get rid of the amber on (nor the tail lights) You have to replace OR cover them up with Tint (I have sen that, its not bad if done right) - yea $1k for lights is over my budget too - you might find a set of clear halogens if you search places like here and maybe ebay too... be careful though...
