Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Use pc again is acceptable' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use pc again is acceptable' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Two years ago I polished my 2003 Basalt Black using a less abrasive pad and a Porter Cable and got phenomenal results.
Since then I have only hand washed it, and waxed it every six months.
I'm starting to see some light swirl marks, etc, and was wondering if others have experience in this area, if after two years, re-polishing again would be more beneficial then harmful.
My understanding is every polish takes a bit of paint off. But what does that mean? How many polishing sessions with a less abrasive pad and Porter Cable can a Basalt Black Porsche withstand over its life?
So what is an appropriate frequency for a car that is 6 years old that keeps it looking its best but isn't overly aggressive in removing too much paint?
Any thoughts on what would be optimal polishing frequency?
thank you,
John
P-cars have 26 coats of paint (I believe) and a nice clearcoat. Spring and Fall polishing should last the life of the vehicle. However, if you're getting swirl marks be sure to ask yourself why? Get back to basics w/ the right tools and you shouldn't be adding any swirl marks in between details. Good luck!
Thank you for the inputs. I did wonder about the new swirl marks. I do wash the car carefully using a mitt, high quality car shampoo, dry (and wash) in garage, micro fiber cloth drying etc.
Part of it may be the metallic black shows so much more then say, my other silver car.
There's a chance the dealer washed it once during service and I doubt they are as careful as I am...
Still there is room for improvement, more frequent washing of micro fiber cloth, etc...
