Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Fill before' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check when i get home and try' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Short story long - they installed the wrong size (metric) lug nuts on the replaced rim!!!

We had some work done on the front end and they actually replaced the lug nuts.

Eventually i had it removed and replaced with regular lugnuts.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I just got new tires put on my car. Sumi ZIII's. Great so far. I got the car back from the shop, and when I went to wash the car I noticed that only 4 lug nuts were put on each wheel. The 5th spot is empty. Is there something different for the 5th hole, bc I dont see threading come through either to attach a 5th lug. I know they were all filled before.
Sounds like you might be missing the locking lug nut... they probably wanted to put on all the regular ones first, than pop the locking ones on last to do all four at once... I'd check with them, they're probably still laying around the shop somewhere...

Okay I was thinking it must be a locking one. I'll call them up this afternoon so I can get them back.
I haven't taken any new pics since the original ones I posted when I got the car. My camera has been w/o a battery charger since like February. I really need to find that charger.
Called. Apparently whoever had the car before me had the wrong locking nuts on the car, so my key didn't unlock them. They're in a box in the trunk of my car (i never look in there, but now that he mentioned it I do recall seeing a random box that I didnt think I put in there). Guess I need to figure out how to make them work, or get new ones?
I ditched my locking lug nuts when I first got the car. Not worth the risk of losing the key and getting a flat, compared to someone stealing my 10-year-old rims.
i don't like the wheel locks. i had one that kept stripping on my dd. Eventually i had it removed and replaced with regular lugnuts.
If someone really wants the wheels they'll find a way to get them.
Your shop is NOT trustworthy...!!
You should NOT have been able to pick up the car absent being told that the lug nuts were missing. And what final torque procedure was used with one missing..??
The guy who does the work is the owner of the shop. By the time I got there to pick it up, he was gone and one of the other guys gave me the bill/keys and was supposed to tell me about it. They forgot to.
The guys honest and came highly recommended from people on this board. He seemed pretty pissed that the other guys forgot to tell me about it.
I'm not sure what the torque specs are at right now. I'll check when I get home and try to find replacements. Anywhere local I can get them - I dont care if they lock. Ive only put a few miles a day on the car, easy side road driving, so im not too worried
Listen to this one: We drove our Impalla up to Michigan to see my wife's folks. We had some work done on the front end and they actually replaced the lug nuts. We drove 40 or 50 miles that day and ended up at a restaruant with her parents. Had dinner, got them in the car and as I was backing out of the parking lot, (you know - arm over the passenger side looking backward,e t.c) we heard a bang and then the front end went down hard on the wife side. Got out and saw that the right front wheel had actually come off the studs. Short story long - they installed the wrong size (metric) lug nuts on the replaced rim!!!
It's no big deal, How do you expect them to put the locking lugs back on without the key? Just take your box of locking lugs -if they are still serviceable- down to to P dealer and they will sell you the proper key for ~$50. If not, just buy 4 regular ones.
BTW, you can probably sell the key you have, since so many are missing them. They go by numbers 1-30

A buddy of mine actually saw his front passenger wheel roll ahead of him for a very brief period of time on a service road before his truck come crashing into the ground and into a curb.
The indy shop that did the work told him to call their insurance company. He called their insurance company and they basically told him to get the owner of the indy shop to call them and file a claim. After a few rounds of getting bounced back and forth like a ping pong ball, he finally got the ball rolling in getting his truck fixed. A year, his truck is finally fixed.
