Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Check manual' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check manual' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Yeah I had this happen to me once (I think) using a "too-small" size sunshade, it must have slipped down and triggered the alarm motion sensor on the dashboard.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

While at work, my alarm has been reported to go off. It takes me about 20minutes to walk to the car, so it obviously is off on my arrival. Not sure what is triggering it. My thoughts: it is really hot 100 degrees +, and I place a sunshade on the dash. It is a silver- metallic flexible shade. It appears to slip down a bit from where left on initial placement when I get into the car. I am wondering if the 2-3 inch slippage after it heats up in the sun is triggering the internal motion sensor.
Any thoughts as to other reasons the alarm activates? If the visor is a problem, can the car be locked without the motion sensor? If I double click on the key to lock the car, will the internal sensor be off? The owners manual appears to indicate this will keep the motion sensor off. Any other ways to inactivate the alarm?
I have a 2001 C2 coupe.
Thanks

that said, not sure what else might cause that - they seem fairly "sure" alarms - I have never had a false (yet)
Yeah I had this happen to me once (I think) using a "too-small" size sunshade, it must have slipped down and triggered the alarm motion sensor on the dashboard. My car is a cab so I think that must be it...
Check your manual. I can't remember for certain, but I think if you lock it the first time, it activates the internal motion sensors, but if you lock it a second time within about 5 seconds that it deactivates the motion sensors.
I don't have access to a 996 manual (or a 996 car
) so I can verify this.
