Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
When he came back from his squad car after not being able to find anything wrong, he then proceeded to inspect the car, asked to pop the hood open so he could inspect the engine.
Leading evidence: 'Inspect car, asked' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Inspect car, asked' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I still can't get past the fact that you are not allowed to use the launch control...WTF?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I had my first ride tonite in a Nissan GTR, all I can say is WOW! It's easily the quickest accelerating car I've ever been in. It's black with black wheels and I know many people don't like the looks but I thought it was exotic and beautiful in a futuristic way. My friend said he'd let me drive it sometime, I can't wait!!!
Sorry, no pics but I had to share this experience with my 996 brethren...
pics or it never happend -
cool, I looked in the window of one - there was a rather large sticker with a rather large number on the bottom.... I stopped looking
I have heard similar stories about the GT-R. It seems to be a pretty impressive vehicle.
I am one of the people who doesn't like the looks of it - I think it looks like a catfish. Even so, I have to appreciate the performance.
I had a similar GTR experience a couple months ago. My brother-in-law arranged for me to get a ride in his neighbor's brand new 2010 GTR when I was visiting them. Total surprise to me.
That car is deadly gorgeous and blinding fast.
In my case, the owner demonstrated the capabilities of his new treasure then pulled into a strip mall parking lot and we got out and looked over everything. He then offered me the opportunity to drive it. I looked around and realized we were in a very congested part of town, in a strange city, in a different state than I live. I had no idea where we were or where to drive TO from our spot. I looked at the busy Saturday afternoon, multi-lane road, and apologized profusely and declined. I did not want to insult him or give him the feeling that that I was a Porsche elitist. I explained that I was terrified of EVERYONE ELSE out there since I had absolutley zero comfort-level with his car or the area where were stopped.
I still feel bad. I hope he understood. I really wanted to drive his car, but I was more afraid I'd get in some sort of accident within moments of leaving the parking lot.
Now if we had been sitting in the paddock at Roebling Road Raceway when he offered...
A friend of mine got one last year and told me this story:
He was driving along a quiet road (at the speed limit) and got stopped by a young cop. The cop didn't say what was wrong, but asked for the normal papers. When he came back from his squad car after not being able to find anything wrong, he then proceeded to inspect the car, asked to pop the hood open so he could inspect the engine. Meanwhile, my friend is thinking the cop is looking for drugs or some other illegal stuff. The cop finishes his inspection and then tells my friend, "okay, here's what's going to happen: I'm going to stop all the traffic behind us. I want you to start off and accelerate as fast as you can. I want to see this car take off". At this, my friend is thinking, uhhh, no way. I'm going to lose my license, this is not safe, etc. Cop insists repeatedly (without being friendly) and so my friend agrees. Cop stops traffic and my friend takes off, gets to about 125 or so and then backs off to normal speed limit. A few minutes later, the cop catches up, and as he's passing him, gives him a "thumbs up". Strangest story I've ever heard.
When his wife drives the car (to get gas, etc), she says she gets so much attention, people taking pictures, asking questions, waving at her to pull over so they can see the car.
Kind of bizarre. I haven't had the opportunity to drive it yet, but it definitely sounds like fun.
Great story but it almost sounds like one of the Penthouse Letters where it surely can't be true!
Anyway I saw one at the last Cars & Coffee event...I thought it looked better in person than in pictures (the same can be said about P-cars). It was big and looked heavy but was attractive in the high-tech Japanese kind of way. It also had real back seats!
The only GTR's I have seen in real life so far are in HKG and they were only a few blocks apart kinda strange. I did check them out from the outside and they looked indeed big and bulky, yeah pretty nice in person too... Wished I could test-drive one one day, of course not in HKG
Cheers,
I also had a ride in a (silver with silver alloys and black interior) GTR yesterday - the owner is a friend and he has 2800 miles on it. The power, acceleration, handling, and technology was incredible. When the turbochargers spooled up, the acceration was scary - it felt like the sub-4 second 0-60 time that it's supposed to have.
Strangely, my favorite part of the car was the huge gold brembos that it has. They must give me a sense of security that, if I ever owned one (and I never will), I would have sufficient braking power for all that horsepower.
I admire the GTR as an amazing car, but it's really not my cup of tea. I must be getting old.

I still can't get past the fact that you are not allowed to use the launch control...WTF?
Funny that I used to get crazy attention in my RX-8 (when it was first released), but never in the P-car.
Well, the original model you could, and after a dozen or so launches your transmission might just explode. So after the first model year they took out the ability to turn on the super-ultra-launch and toned it down some so it put significantly less stress on the transmission. Still fast though.
I did some lead/follow with at GTR recently, very quick car... the driver was learning the line. He could have motored past me in the longer straights. Good, ttwo part video looking through his windsheld.
