I ran 1800 rear/1600 front with Moton race dampers.

Took me a day and a half to sort through, inspect and clean properly.

You also replace axles, clutches, etc more frequently on the cup.

It was pretty expensive to build and run my 996 because we were always breaking new ground.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just got everything sorted out at home with the interior parts. Autometrics did a fantastic job removing it...absolutely nothing damaged. I've went through every part, cleaned it, wrote down part numbers I could find and put a fresh coat of leather protectant on the leather parts. It is in even better shape than I thought. I've rated each part on a scale of 1-10 and most of the 9's could pass for new. I still haven't got the pricing yet, but will early next week.
The prices will be as follows:
Rating 7 out of 10 35% of new.
Rating 8 out of 10 40% of new.
Rating 9 out of 19 50% of new.
I still have to research the new prices, but will get them soon. Of course, the people I've already made contact with will get first dibs. This actually would be the perfect car to do a interior color change. If you know the price already, just shoot me a message. I wanted to offer here to RL friends first before I ebayed anything. I also have detailed pics of each part individually. Thanks in advance!
Hi.....not sure what you are doing the seatbelts...but I'm looking for the cover that goes over the housing in the door pillar on the passenger side.
It's number 7 in the diagram below (courtesy of pelican parts). Can't seem to find a price on it. I'm looking for one. Thanks so much.
J
Do you have a part number by chance? I'm sure I have the part, but want to make sure I get the right one. I also have a bag of small parts that go with the belts. I probably need to sell the whole seat belt assem. together though.
Hi...thanks, don't think i'll need the whole setup, but let me know if you end up parting the parts...haha. Not sure which part number is one I need, but it should match one of the numbers below.

I thought my 996 was a baby cup. Then I got the real thing. Big difference.
Having said that, you'll have a good time with it. It should be a great car. What are you doing for dampers/springs?
Have fun,
Jim
hi, i need the carpet piece that covers the ECU boxes (the one that just lifts out with no screws).
please please please let me know how much you want for it shipped to M6B3P6 standard ground shipping.
thanks
P.S. i could also use the left said airvent if its available and the little plastic cap that covers the center bolts on the rear seats, and lastly, the little plastic covers that go over the seat bolts on the front passenger/driver side seats.
Looks like a huge weight reduction Roger. When you first posted your project idea, I expressed interest in you 3 spoke air-bag. If it is available I'd love to buy it. I have done business with two other Rennlisters with very good results. Please PM me at your convenience. Thanks-Steve.
Jim how different are your running cost? I am doing the same and only went this way because I thought it would be more cost effective to run or DE applications. Thanks. T.Roy
Great Job on stripping the car. I would be interested in weight loss as well. Mine is getting done this week!
Remember Trj, your engine will only cost you about 10 grand when you need to replace it. Unless the dollar continues its freefall.
That was the key decision point for me.
I still would liike to have the 4 stalk turn signal switch piece, what ever the technical name is I PM'd you on. Let me know when you get that far in the pricing.
It was pretty expensive to build and run my 996 because we were always breaking new ground. Grand Am Cup was just starting and only a few guys were racing 996s. Everything we did was an experiment. In the early days of running a very stiff suspension we broke a lot of pieces. We were also one of the first to put a 3.6 X51 in a 99 which took a little work. We also made mistakes like starting out with Moton Club Sports and fairly soft (1100/1300) springs. Doing the same mods twice is never good. Once we got the kinks worked out the car was very fast and fairly cheap to run.
Maintenance isn’t really that different between the 996 and a cup. You should change engine oil every race and tranny fluid almost as often. (Every race in the 997 cup.) You’ll pull both cars apart and blow out the radiators almost every race. Nut and bolt every race. Alignment every race if you want to be fast. New tires every race. It all adds up. Obviously you have to add the cost of engine and tranny rebuilds to the cup. You also replace axles, clutches, etc more frequently on the cup. If you are good to the 996’s tranny and clutch they will last a long time.
Unfortunately the money you will save in maintenance you give back on resale. Cups hold their value much better than 996s. Ask me how I know?
You guys will have a blast racing the 996s. I sure did.
Jim
Thanks Jim great information. I am running clubsports and 750 rear/550 front springs. How heavy do you suggest going with the clubsports/ Thanks . T.Roy
I will weigh it on the way out the door. Took me a day and a half to sort through, inspect and clean properly. It would be major for me to do an H car anyway, as I'm doing cup wing etc also.

Hopefully this posts ok. Any suggestions on looking up prices?
I ran 1800 rear/1600 front with Moton race dampers. Somewhere inbetween your numbers and mine might be best for you. I can't imagine being under 1200 or so though.
Ok guys...this stuff has to go now. Gotta get the garage ready for the car. If I've pm'd you a price, shoot me back a price that is reasonable to you and lets do it. I'm taking all reasonable offers and if someone wants the whole thing, I'll do that at a discount as well. I'm hitting ebay with it this weekend. Thanks everyone!!!
Still have front carpet, rear carpet, rear deck carpet, rear deck lid, stereo system, rear trim and panels, door wiring harnesses and suede headliner. I have some various different plastic parts that are undentifiable. PM with a reasonable offer if interested. Everything else is sold and shipped. Thanks!
Oh and I just got in the control arms and shocks.
