Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
PPI was performed by a shop recommended here on the forums.
Leading evidence: 'Recommend here' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend here' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Pretty freaking high, and low miles are not always a selling point on 996s. Anecdotal evidence (which is all we have to go on) seems to indicate that low mileage may actually be a sign of more potential problems rather than less. At the very least I wouldn't let anything up to around 60,000 miles be a deciding factor for me personally. Check out Chad's guide for more about that.
Meanwhile, a quick search on Autotrader.com indicates that there are well over 500 996 convertibles for sale in the USA for less than $45,000 - some as new as 2004.
Autotrader search...
My advice is to cast your net wide and be pleasantly surprised if you find a good deal close to home. Limiting your shopping to your own neighborhood will skew your perspective on the market value of the car.
...that said I'm going nuts waiting for a car that's in an enclosed car carrier somewhere - presumably - in the American Heartland right now.

The guy is desperate to sell, I told him I wasnt interested anymore and he has now offered it to me for 35k!! thats better, I think im going to go for it pending a PPI. I did a nationwide search found most for around 30 but not AWD and Aero
I'm about to pick up a '99 C2 Coupe with 36K miles for $25,500 tomorrow. PPI was performed by a shop recommended here on the forums. Ther ewere some minor issues with the PPI, about $2K worth of repairs.
Point is, $35K is ridiculous. You should not pay more than $30K, IMO.
without seeing the cars side by side or at least having more info about your car v. this cab, your $30K max offer logic is full of holes.
i for one would never buy a 911 that's got $$$$ worth of repairs that need to go into it as that is a sign it wasn't exactly treated well.
Agreed, and I think there's still a price premium for a cab over a coupe in today's market. I'd be very surprised if you can find a facelift C4 cab for $25k that hasn't been molested.
For the record, I paid just a tad under 45 for this 03 C4 Cab ( 37.5k miles) I posted on 3/28. During my search At least in SoCal 99-01 were advertised anywhere between 29-39 (dependent on mileage/condition) with 02's in the lower to mid 40's. I opted and focused on 02 or newer due to the larger engine and believe it or not- the glass window of the convertible, not plastic. I hope this helps and good luck!
Me too - and for the exact same reasons. Bigger engine, glass rear window and the different headlight design. I wasn't interested in an aero so I didn't really look into them that much. Still, the price points I found agree pretty much exactly with what you're saying.
Cheers (Nice car BTW)
