Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Took the car in after noticing some "wetness" on the bottom of the engine and the diagnosis is............RMS leak. The car has 9,300 miles. While it was there they replaced the coolant tank cap. They had to order the seal and I also need a piece of interior trim replaced. This will all be covered under the original warranty. I have to confess that it doesn't bother me. I'll get a loaner (today's car was a Boxster with 900 miles) when I take the car back in next week. I know the new RMS seals are apparently very robust so if that's the extent of my issues I have no complaints!

POST 2Original post

Nice to be under the original warranty, also nice to know your Porsche will be tip top when you get it back. Driving a boxster can only be icing on the cake regarding your loaner. Nice to hear.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The warranty does make a difference, of course, from a TCO perspective. However, I'm just surprised that now that it has happened to my car I'm not really stressed out about the fact that my car will have a new RMS installed.

POST 4Original post

Don't kid yourself the new rms seal doesn't do any better then any other one they have used.

What makes you say that? My friend who is a mechanic at the local dealership says the newer style seals are working almost flawless.

POST 7Original post

^^He's living proof of why they say "almost" flawless...
