Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.

Leading evidence: 'Use ruf chip' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check any article or review' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Suggestion
Ruf always lowballs the hp number of their cars and mods....check any article or review.

Suggestion
I suspect they run similarly but of course the Stradale feels faster (mainly the exhaust and lack of sound deadening).

As for the Ruf RTurbo, it uses different rear quarter panels with the intakes located further back over the wheel arches.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I received a mailer the other day from Ruf, they will soon have the 3.4 SC upgrade on the market. No prices yet, spoke to our new local Ruf dealer and it will add about 90 reliable HP and lots of torque. Should be interesting....
My Evo SC (a year ago) added 140 HP for probably less $ than RUF will be charging and it's been plenty reliable. Of course RUF may actually invest the time and money to make it legal in CA though.
from your words EVO SC has 50 HP more.
fine wich means that it is approx 55% more power upgrade.
but have this in mind please.
i have used a RUF chip for my 964. just the chip.
they did state from RUF company it was only 12 hp more and 1.3 Nm more.
compare to other companies that did stated me 27 Hp more, at least i must say that when i did drive my car with ruf chip nit was definetely faster than other car my friends had with other chips.
i trust RUF
on the other hand a mod cannot be judded only by numbers. you really need to drive both cars in order to appreciate the work done by the companies, wich might be equally perfect, but so different.
Doug,
Sounds good, I think the EVO is probably as good but Ruf is super reliable and might be worth the extra cash, esp if they arein your own backyard. PM me and I'll give you that info on the GT3 stuff we talked about.
Chris
hey ben:
w/ 140 more horses, is the sc'd 996 quicker than your stradale? ...i know we're talking apples to oranges, but a comparo would be interesting.
I'm not sure but sometimes I wonder. I suspect they run similarly but of course the Stradale feels faster (mainly the exhaust and lack of sound deadening). While the 996 has more hp/lb, it red lines near 7k while the Stradale takes it all the way to 8500.
I know Ruf does some awesome work, now their website...can't give them much respect about that. I know they are not web masters or anything but, I would think that they could at least spell Boxster correctly since they've done such a great job stuffing 3.4s and 3.6s in them. Also, I could be wrong but I thought all 996 turbos had side air ducts? I know that won't stop anyone from buying from them, but I bet if some new company posted a site like that, they would rag them all day long.
I agree, that site is pretty bad. But they just launched it so give it some time (not a very good start though.) And to be fair, the
official German website
is not that much better. This may seem too picky but if I were investing money and opening the first official Ruf center in the U.S. (
Weissach
, the other North American Ruf dealer, is in Canada) I would've built in as part of my budget the purchase of the domain "rufautocen
ter
.com." I mean seriously, who in Texas spells center as "
centre
"?
As for the Ruf RTurbo, it uses different rear quarter panels with the intakes located further back over the wheel arches. I am not sure if it is based on the stock Turbo chassis or a C2 or C4S chassis.

You can get the RTurbo in any bodystyle you like, narrow, wide, AWD, RWD, etc. It's based on however you spec it out.
Regarding the website, yeah I guess it needs some work. But I've noticed a trend among Porsche tuners and their websites, the flashiest and prettiest websites belong to the companies with the worst reputation (Motormeister and Gemballa come to mind) and the most basic and even sometimes flawed websites belong to the guys who deliver the product as advertised.
Hey Zamirz, what has given Motormeister and Gemballa a bed rep? I've heard of Gemballa...even browsed over their site, but I don't know much about these two companies. Any personal experience dealing with them?
HBacura, yes the burnt car thread on 6speed is an example, but there have been numerous customers (most from the middle east) who have not gotten the level of service and product that an almost $300K car deserves.
Motormeister, no personal experience luckily, but they've hosed more than one person here and on pelicanparts. Recently, Otto who owns a Porsche shop in Venice Beach (Otto's Porsche Service) pulled apart what was supposed to be a built 3.0 liter to find a 2.2T spec engine with badly scored main bearings and a whole host of other crap wrong, I would never ever buy anything from them, let alone have them build me a motor.
Hey Zamirz, I read the "Gemballa Nightmare" thread on 6speed. That is horrible what happened to his car. Thank you spreading the word, that's one more company I know not to do business with.
I sent an inquiry to RUF, andI just heard back from them this morning. Here's the important part of what they had to say:
"You are right, we are almost ready to launch a supercharger kit. The development phase is finished and I would like to inform you that details on performance, price and availability in the US are forthcoming in December. As soon as we have all the information complete I will get back to you to give you the information desired. I hope this is to your satisfaction."
So, standby for December news. A SC kit might look nice under the tree....
=Carlos=
Talked to Wayne (VP of RUF Dallas) about SC kit on grand opening. he said it should be available on spring next year. it will be centrifugal SC kit so I guess it's about the same as EVO had. if anyone interested on RUF cars and opening, check it out links below.

You should see the R12. It looks like a 993 Turbo on steroids...
And the production R50 isn't an overblown Boxster like the press has intimated. It's a Ruf carbon fiber chassis supercar...
Not according to Marc Bongers the new Sales, Marketing and Public Relations manager for RUF.
I met him on Saturday in Heidelberg. He also gave a little speech at our Christmas party gathering of former members of the car club we cannot mention the name of again. PCA-Germany Region for those who do not know.
The 3.4 L SC kit is undergoing emissions testing and approval (due to be completed next month) and the 3.6 L SC will come a little later.
Ciao,
Adrian
