Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all, New here. Just some questions for you guys. Here is my situation:
My father pitched the idea of him buying my 540 off me in maybe a year. After driving my co-workers 996 C2, I am in love with porsches now. My question is: BoxsterS or 996 C2. Before you answer, here are some pros and cons.
BoxsterS:
around 55k+CAD
252hp/229tq
0-60 5.3 sec 13.9@100MPH 1/4mile
Pros-
-Cheaper, 8k+ cheaper
-Newer, 01-02+
-warrenty
-would be about to finance through porsche canada via 60/40 finance instead of -straight finance
-drop top!
-more options
-less kms
Cons-
-its a boxster....."for those people who can't afford the 911" Not that it matters much
-not quite as quick as the C2
-more common, people will think I am having a mid-life crisis
Carrera C2
around 65kCAD
300hp/258tq
0-60 4.9sec 13.5@105MPH 1/4mile
Pros-
-more power/torque
-seats 4, kinda...
-not everybody has one, not a mid life crisis car
Cons-
-costs more 8k+
-older 99
-warrenty will be scarce
-most likely would have to straight finance
-not a cab
-less options
-more kms
The performance stats aren't very far off, either would be great. But I would prefer to get the C2, but the price difference kind of scares me. I'm just doing some research for now...nothing final.....yet.
Opinions are always welcome.
I am getting thoughts of boxsterS owners, I would like your guys thoughts too!
Before I bought my C2 I had a Boxster S. So here are some of my thoughts:
Performance -wise. The C2 (1999/2000) "feels" and is a fair amount faster than the Boxster S, but both are definitely fun to drive. I think the Boxster has a slight handling edge over the C2 IMO, this might be due to the mid-engine placement, but I felt it hugged the road more than my C2. Of course, if you plan to modify your car, these points are moot, as suspension and performance upgrades can make a big difference.
Interior - They are both about the same, in terms of my experience. Almost identical, except for the fact that the C2 has back seats. I was never a fan of the Boxster having room for only two. If you ever drive with MORE than one person, having a Boxster can be quite annoying IMO. With that said, the C2 can barely sit another person let alone two people back there. However, the C2 leaves you with the OPTION to do so, the Boxster simply doesn't.
I also felt the Boxster was very claustrophobic with the top up. Having a drop top is great if you live in nice climate areas, but for most days (espeically in NY), you are driving with the top up and I didn't really like the "feel" to it. I assume you can get a hard-top and that might help, but I can't comment because I did not have one.
Looks: I am baised towards the C2. The C2 has cleaner lines and a more "sports car look", but again, that is simply one man's opinon.
Given the fact that the C2 costs 8k+ more, with less options, limited warranty, older year and more miles, it may be better off going with the Boxster S. All in all, you can't go wrong with either car.
Do your research then go to the dealer and test drive the two cars back to back. You will know your decsion by the end.
Good luck with your choice!
you are correct having these questions in your mind but have in mind as well that performance figures are not that close......

the Carrera is for sure faster......especially at higher 100+mph speeds.....
but speed isnot the most important factor...
Boxster S and gennerally boxsters are easier to drive....
996 and especially earlier 911s are more difficult.
have a test drive....of both.
you will find out which one you prefer...
