That will change when the weather just tells you that driving p-car to work is the way to go if there is a parking space to support that urge.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

38 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i've had my 01 996 for 3 weeks now as my DD. just wanted to comment that every morning, i still do a double-take when i open the door to my garage and there's a lovely silver 996 sitting there. for a second i'm like, "who left a porsche in my garage?!", then i expect to wake up as in a dream. i also find myself volunteering to my wife to run any little errand just so i can have an excuse to drive my car. any excuse. even a run for "feminine products" has me grabbing my keys and heading towards the garage.

POST 2Original post

It always brightens your day to wake up, go into your garage and see a Porsche. I often think, work sucks but then I go into my garage and think- I love my job.

POST 3Original post

I gotta admit, one of the best experiences of my life thus far... was flying down to San Francisco to pick up my '02 C4S. I ended up spending about 5 days down there, but all in all, my first Porsche, the new city environment (driving in it), and just the smell of the air, the people, the 911 PSE sound... I mean, I will never, ever forget it. I've gotten used to my 911 now, but I still do love driving it and looking at it.

POST 4Original post

I love fighting with myself every morning on which key to grab. Guess which car is winning.

POST 5Original post

Think about it: How many days of your life do you actually remember (Birthdays, weddings, kids)? Most people could count such days on their fingers. For me, getting the Porsche is one of them. As Ben said, I'll never, ever forget that day... and maybe the day after even I always get a smile when I open the door to the garage. I pause, absorb the feeling, and get into the car.

POST 6Original post

I've had 3 Porches in the past 7 years. I can remember the day I bought or went to see each of them! One 944 was in Boston in January. One 944s2 was in Virginia in the hot summer. The 996 was a trip to Long Island at 10pm during the week to check the car out. Ah the memories. And I still look in the garage and smile at the shiny paint and classic lines! Did it for EVERY one I have owned! There is NO substitute!!

POST 7Original post

I feel like a little kid on Christmas morning every morning when entering my garage. I also drive it every day:-)

POST 8Original post

I think it is the silly boyish grin that I get every time I look at "her". OK OK I even touch her sometimes as I walk by her in my garage!!!!!!!!!! Guilty!!!!!!!!

POST 9Original post

Mine is having my baby...what a lovely way to say I love you!!!! Sorry.....cheesy '70's songs....show I'm old!!!!

POST 10Original post

I park the car wherever i happen to go, close the door, walk away a few steps, and always, always, in the last 6 years, look back at the car, and smile . C'mon, now, admit it. You all do the same thing.

I don't know about Canada, but here in the States we have laws about such things

POST 12Original post

I'll have had mine for 3 weeks on Friday and I still can't believe it every time I go into my garage. Although I don't use it as a DD, I do however also rush home from work to go out and do pointless little chores (Oh, I need to drop off the shirt that I wore today at the dry cleaners).

You are just saying it now. That will change when the weather just tells you that driving p-car to work is the way to go if there is a parking space to support that urge.

POST 14Original post

Ahhhhh: The Honeymoon experience! Yep, It's all good! 99C2

POST 15Original post

...especially since I've got some really nice back roads and highways on the way to work. I've also planned out the spot(s) that I want. Although (and I know that this has been discussed on other threads), it's my first year as a middle school math teacher (I'm also a career changer out of the IT world), so I'm not really ready to pull up into the faculty lot with a Speed Yellow C4S, even though there are probably a 1/2 dozen cars whose MSRP was higher than what I paid for mine. Sure we do it! Some days, driving home from work in the 996 is the absolute highlight of my day.

I was even gonna start a thread about this! In the office parking lot every morning, I click the key fob to lock the doors, look around to make sure nobody is watching me, then I turn back and look at my 996 as I walk into the building . . .

I still love and looking at my 2002 C4S. It's been 2 years now and I still stare at it in the garage. The rear view is my favorite

Guilty! Park the car, cross the street, lock & LOOK!

POST 23Original post

I almost hate to admit this.....but I like washing and waxing it almost as much as driving.....I "wax on/wax off" by hand, and some of the lines and curves are just so fun to "feel".......

POST 25Original post

Man!! You guys are way more messed up than I thought. I'm almost scared to read what's next...unless the female drivers join in Ok ok Fine, I admit it. Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!! But I've NEVER rubbed against anything in my p-car. OK...for SURE nobody ever saw me, If I would have done it, not that I'm saying I did or ever thought of it. Uh yeah...like I said, you guys are flat out sick

The 996 C4S has the best **** end in the business proper! But I do enjoy the front view as well as I usually back it into my condo parking spot.

POST 27Original post

I've had my 996 for almost 2 years now, but I still find myself grinning like a demented baboon when I see it. It's not my DD, so it lives under a cover. Unwrapping it to take it out for a romp is better than Christmas morning.

POST 29Original post

Funny thread but all true.... I originally didn't get my 996 to drive daily. Mostly for 50% of the time. But I've been driving it 100% daily. Got rid of my big coaching gear & bags and got a bunch of smaller wheeled bags so it will all fit in the trunk and back seats. haha... Been even driving my work-inappropriate p-car to my day job everyday. I park far and stare at it coming and going. I was conscious about my colleagues knowing what I drive. For some reason, I don't even care anymore that they know nor what they think. Thinking I should sell the FX or at least make sure it still starts... LOL

Thanks. I'm loving the change. It's tough at times and really rewarding at others. Also I can get home and drive the car at a reasonable time as opposed to when I was getting home in years past.

POST 31Original post

best experience for me....buying the 02 Targa back in Dec 07 and.......thinking.......there is a time when you know you want a Porsche...................a time when you get THE Porsche.......and just think the 20 years it took to happen......I love my car.....daily driver.

POST 32Original post

Every time I come home, I walk to the garage to see my 996. Then, I ask my wife if she noticed that there's a Porsche in the garage. She has a chuckle at my expense, then humors me with a nice compliment. On weekends, I can't wait to warm up the engine and take her out. Only another Porsche fanatic can understand the feeling.

POST 33Original post

How about this....? For as long as I have known my wife (and it has been a long time), we frequently have noticed that the time on digital clocks are 9:11 pm/am way too often when we need to know the time. And I am not kidding! See, I am always suppose to have a 911 around!

POST 34Original post

total feel good thread. we're all so blessed. i always try to reset myself to not take things for granted from just being healthy enough to go work out and be hyped about it... to a bottled water that i can drink and believe this water won't get me sick. i mean it's absolutely insane, but that's that... i'm sure a good number of you donate/volunteer your time to great causes at the cul de sac, local, state, national, and global level. but that's another topic. anyways today, this chick (seattle university coed) who works at this smoothie shop i frequent straight up says to me as i walk in (she's new): "i've been drooling over your car for the past hour. i love porsches. my friend's dad owns carlsen porsche and we used to drive like everything.... i don't like boxsters ... i love 911s... blah blah blah...." then she asks me straight up: "what do you do, R u a drug dealer?" next steps...

POST 35Original post

I am still doing double take after 6 months. Getting m 996 is one of the best decisions that I have made.
