Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys I just put a new engine in the cabrio and a check engine light has popped up. Runs great, doesn't smell rich, don't see any problems. Can someone tell me how to fix this issue? It seems pretty technical. (Loren? MFletch? ...are you guys out there? )

POST 2Original post

P1539 Camshaft Adjustment, Bank 2 Actuator triggered, no active position. Potential causes: - Open circuit in triggering wire. - Open circuit in B+ supply. - Actuator faulty.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Loren, thanks. I got that before but I have no idea what to do with that information. Is this an issue resulting in a defect from the new engine or is there somewhere else I should start? Do you have practical steps for me to take? Thanks so much for your help.

POST 4Original post

Check the connector and the wiring to the cam actuator the right side of the car. B+ would be 12 volts. If the actuator is bad then I suggest letting a shop do that. The cam cover has to come off.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

well, i pretty much am the shop. i put the motor in myself as i did with my tiptronic. is this an issue that would be the responsibility of the seller of the new motor? he gave me a warranty. the entire intake, wiring harness, starter, alternator and every thing else comes on the motor. it's a complete motor. so the actuator would be his problem, right?

If it is properly connected and there is no wiring damage and the unit is getting the 12 volts -- then it pretty much has to be the actuator.
