Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
First thing I would do before you track the car is to check your rear camber.
Leading evidence: 'Check rear camber' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check rear camber' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I have also changed out rears tires without changing the front tires.

Would it be OK to replace just the rear tires or would that create a problem with the circumference vs.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Last summer I picked up some nails in my right rear tire an put two punctures in it. The local tire shop patched them and they're OK for around-town use but they lose about 1 pound of pressure per month. The problem is that I want to run some driving events this summer and I don't have faith in that tire at high speeds.
The tires are S02A's with about 12,000 miles on them and they have plenty of tread. Would it be OK to replace just the rear tires or would that create a problem with the circumference vs. the front tires? This is a C4S.
People replace just the rears all the time. Stay with the same S02A's and there is no problem at all. Just curious, you say that you got 12000 miles on the rears and still have plenty of tread? Did you measure inside tread depth as well as outside? I am seriously looking at S02A's for my 02 C2, but read they wear ridiculously fast on the rear insides.... & 12k with plenty of tread would be fine with me....thanks!
First thing I would do before you track the car is to check your rear camber. If you have "plenty of tread" left on the rears, chances are your camber is at or close to the minimum of spec.
prerry, sounds like something's not right with your alignment.
Patched tires are fine, just not sure why you're losing 1lb per month. it's certainly not cuz of the patch cuz that stuff is airtight, good as new.
it's totally ok to just replace rears.

shared with some percentage number and it's insane.
Once you patch a tire, they are unsafe for high speeds.
Sure they are fine for normal hwy driving but never use them at the track. At the track the tires get very hot and I've see really high pressures.
I have also changed out rears tires without changing the front tires. My fronts had plenty of tire tread but they were heat cycled out. PSM was going nuts at the track because the front was always slipping and while the rears had full grip.
I ended up changing out the front tires and PSM stopped going nuts.
12K miles? The best I've gotten is 15K miles on the original Contis. The S02A wore out at 11K miles, down to the cord on well, the inside shoulder. Double check your tires thoroughly.
If you want to make sure you have good grip at the track, you can always get your street rubber shaved a bit as well. The Michelin Pilot Sport 2 is a MUCH better tire on and off the track than the S02A.
