I had to have a transmission replaced on a BMW from the same dealership (united motors) and I asked them for an upgrade at the time they were giving me the rental voucher.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Hey gang...long time no talk so... a 2 weeks ago I heard a knocking sor of metal on metal sound coming from the engine. I called the dealer, a flat bed was dispatched and a few days later I was told that it was a "bad intermediate bearing" Porsche AG decided the easiest way to fix it was to swap out the ENGINE!!!!....I have not have had the car for 2.5 weeks in total...my questions are: 1)other then breaking in the new (refurbished) engine any thing else i need to anticipate? 2)my dealer doesn't do lowner's they rent you a **** car...so rather then drive a pos i drove my acura....but i have been with out the P for 2.5 weeks...which i still am paying for!!! anybody ever get Porsche to discount your payment or givve you any other reciporcity?? thanks for your help chaps!

Jason: You're talking about Porsche North Scottsdale, right? They should be able to give you an upgraded rental to a nicer car. I had to have a transmission replaced on a BMW from the same dealership (united motors) and I asked them for an upgrade at the time they were giving me the rental voucher. If you bought your car from them you should complain and make them give you a better loaner. That's one reason I like Lexus for my other cars. You always get a Lexus loaner car even for an oil change.

UPDATE well it took 2.5 weeks and I got my car bak...the new engine seems solid! i never asked and don't really intend to ask Porsche for anything in return for the missing 2.5 weeks...i am just glad its back!. interestingly...the engine sounds slightly different at idle and under power...in a cool way

POST 4Original post

I've gone through an engine or two in my Pcars and for me, it's never been a bad thing. In fact, the last engine I had put in the Carrera to me, as well as the mechanics who installed it, felt it pulled stronger, felt torque'ier and sounded nicer (perhaps different intermediate cats?). However, as great as it feels to have your car back, you were still inconvenienced. Perhaps monetary compensation is not something you seek, but at least ask for gift certificate for perhaps service or to the techequipment catalog.

POST 5Original post

Dealers in the Boston area loan Cayennes when your car is in the shop. Someone at the dealership told me that was "official" Porsche policy. Alain
