Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Check sig)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check sig)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Howdy,
Did y'all see C&D's Dec/04 issue? The main feature is a comparo of the 05 C6 vs the 05 997 Carrera.
Funny thing, it looks to me that the 997 won everything BUT on the price, which happened to give a big lead to the C6.
So, I wonder, what is the use of this excersize if at the end of the day, the price will have a biggest weight above all else. If that is the case, they should already known what the outcome was going to be!
Besides, had this comparo had a Carrera S, the difference would have been greater...
Anyway, that is the reason why I stopped my subscription to that magazine and I only read Car and Evo now...

I think you better reread the article.
The Chevy won by 1 point. If price were not a factor the 997 would have been the winner... it's really ridiculous either way, just get's them to sell magazines.
Okay let's look at the results. The C6 beat the 997 in the following categories: 0-60, 0-100, 0-150,1/4 mile, rolling 5-60, and top speed. The only acceleration category that the 997 won was in top gear acceleration, 30-50 and 50-70. I'm astounded that the C6 could even accelerate from 30 in top gear. The C6 can't be turning more than 900 rpm in top gear at 30. The 997 was better at braking, but the C6 hit .98g on the skidpad versus the the 997's .97g.
The 997 took a big lead in a lot of subjective categories like gotta have it factor and fun to drive.
Let's give GM credit. They built a $44K car that is very competitive with a $70K 997. I would imagine that on a race track, the driver would make the difference as to which car was faster. Now as to which car I would rather own, that's a no-brainer. It's the 997 or better yet the 997S. I would feel perfectly comfortable driving around in any 911. If I drove a vette on the other hand, I would feel as though I'm driving a High School guy's car. It would be the same feeling I would have driving a Firebird or Camaro. Nice cars for the kids, but not so nice for the gray haired guys.
Wow..I too was impressed, and I know first hand...many times! (check my sig)
Reality from a past Vette guy...Porsche Rocks!
Although I have not driven the C6, the refinement on my C4S is stunning. If you really read the Car/Driver artical, the Porsche is the clear winner in all catagories, and the 997 has a really impressive 0-60 ( frankly I was surprised considering the HP difference) which BTW really doesn't mean too much to me.
Bottom line for me...Porsche...There is no substitute!
The C6 beat the 997 in the following categories: 0-60, 0-100, 0-150,1/4 mile, rolling 5-60, and top speed.
can anyone post the times for this procedure please, since i am in Greece, and have no access to the mag
thanks
Did they give the Porsche any points for having four seats?
I can drive my three kids to school every day in my 996. If I owned a C6 at any price it would sit in the garage every day as useless to me.

I also think there is an x-factor that people rarely consider. Although the Corvette has a great history in the sports car world, it's been redefined so often it's hard to connect the current vette to a split window or a 78 Stingray. I feel the 911 has stayed true to it's form, it still looks like a 911 after all these years.
I own a 911 because I love the car and it's history. I don't feel that same sense of pedigree with a corvette.
i am actually considering a c6 cab for my next car...I don't really need the extra space...thats why i have my acura.
the one stike against vette is the lack of exclusivity...one little perk of having a 996 is there are not nearly as many of them on the road as there are vette's...where i live anyway
in any event vette sure does provide a lot lot lot of performance for the money!
Vette beat the carrera 997 in most of the number categories, BUT,read these
"At speed, how accurately can you place the car? with the 911, the answer is fractions of an inch; with the vette, it's in inches...."
"The 911 doesn't throw you around nearly as much as the vette over bumpy curves, and it's noticebly more stable, and this with the vette, you have to tell yourself it's going to stay glued to the road, but in the 911, there is no need to worry."
"
Vette....there is, however a numbness to the chassis that was especially apparent when compared with the porsche,....
the chevy can be driven extremely quickly, but it doesn't inspire the same confidence as the Porsche..."
"
Stomp on the middle pedal in the vette, and it practically stands on it's nose, where as the porsche squats hard
....taken as a complete car, the 911 has a tick more sharpeness,
the vette's steering is LIFELESS in comparision to the 911's....
"
911 has a superior chassis, brake feel, steering and overall precision what's essential for a sport's car IMO.
There is no substitute
