I had buyers remorse when I went from my Boxster S to the 996 until I installed the PSS9s and GT3 adjustable swaybars.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well, the deed is done. Although I would have liked the JIC's, I ended up with the PSS9 because Gert at Carnewal was selling them at such a "can't pass up" type of price. The install was done by a great shop in the Bay Area, Akkurat, in Menlo Park. The settings are 3 and 2 (front/rear) and the car handles awesome! I have to say that just cruising around town, freeway on ramps and off ramps are considerably more fun. There is a tremendous amount of feedback from the car now; whereas before, it felt rather numb comparatively. Last evening, the sway bars were installed and WOW!! The PSS9 before was awesome, however it was transformed with the new, stiffer, beefier sways. I had a blast driving home last night and can't wait to put her to the test. The ride is still comfortable and the height of the car...well...speaks for itself! Before: After: Before: After: Another:

POST 3Original post

Looks awesome! I want the Akkurat to pimp my ride, too!

POST 4Original post

Robyn, I want to lower my car as well, however, in NYC I'm afraid of the car being too low. Do you have any issues with hills, potholes, or driveways? Thanks, Rob

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The nice thing about the PSS9 is that it is adjustable. I haven't any issues thus far with hills, potholes or driveways. But...I am VERY careful.

POST 6Original post

Nice look, Robyn. It's a good thing that you have that looooow sloping driveway! A few Q's: 1. What alignment specs did you go with? 2. Are the K-18s reverse drop centers or the regular centers? What center caps are those? They seem to match perfectly in color. Cheers

POST 7Original post

I lowered mine down quite a bit with the PSS9s and -- with the stock front bumper -- I have very few problems in DC. If you have an issue, you can just raise the car a bit.

POST 8Original post

Congrats, it is awesome. I had buyers remorse when I went from my Boxster S to the 996 until I installed the PSS9s and GT3 adjustable swaybars. Then I fell in love. Hope all is well, and it sounds like it is.

POST 9Original post

do you mind breaking down the cost of those items and instal? i want to do pss9 as well. i have h&r springs and ride is very rough. thx.

POST 10Original post

PSS9's with install can run about $3000 or more... Average price for PSS9's is around $2000 or more. Install is around $1000 which usually includes install, alignment and corner balancing.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll get you my alignment specs. They are at home. And they are the regular centers. Would have loved the K18Rs, but these were a steal of a price, couldn't pass up.

POST 14Original post

Itzkirb, or anyone else: In regard to the PSS9 install of $1,000. Is there anything about the install that takes a really long time? At $90-$100 an hour, that's 11-10 hours to install? While I cannot speak to the corner balancing, the install and the alignment just does not seem to be that big of a job. Coilover installs for an Audi S4, which required cutting of the metal for the fronts, with an alignment was $400-$500. I am not doubting you, I am just surprised!

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Out here, we are talking about $125 an hour labor rate. $250 for a four wheel alignment and $125 for corner balancing. We ae talking about five hours to do the actual uninstall and install of the new parts. Removing all the old struts, shocks, springs, the front is more complicated than the rear, you even need to go so far as loosening the drive shaft I believe and in the rear, you have to pull up carpet in the car to get to the struts and such. It's not quite "bolt on". The going rate out west is about $1000, your dealer of course is happy to charge you quite a bit more than that if you can get them to do aftermarket installs.
