Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was paging through the Dec issue of Excellence and noticed that Brandywine Porsche has a sale on the 996 C2 Red Brake Caliper Kit. Does anyone know the story behind this kit? How does it differ from my black calipers (other than being red)? Thanks for the help! Oh, the kit is $1500.00

POST 2Original post

"sandoval" (rennlister) was offering red powder-coated calipers, w/ logos on an exchange basis for ~ $500. no need to buy new ones.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'll take it that means I'd be paying 1500 clams for the color red....incredible.

POST 4Original post

Same calipers, different color. That's it. You aren't paying for the color red, you are paying for the new calipers which you can buy in red, black, or silver for a C2. I bought a set from B-Wine a while back for about $1200 and then sold my black ones on eBay for about $600. So, it really only cost me $600 for changing to new red calipers from the factory as opposed to $500 for having somebody powder coat my old ones.

POST 5Original post

You should look in your local yellow pages for businesses that do powder coating. Even if all the caliper piston seals are replaced $500 is outrageous.

POST 6Original post

Eli at Pelican Parts has a powder coating service (or a friend of his) that you may want to contact. I have seen his ad on eBay for this service. About $250-300. He is also on the this board from time to time.
