Suggestion

I also use a three ring binder with page protectors for each receipt but also have a spreadsheet that I update as well.

I also use a three ring binder but for each job I do (and I do all my own work) I also have a work order sheet that I make which has all the details of what was done and cost for parts with part numbers and I staple all the receipts to it.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

I know a lot of you guys like to keep reciepts and paperwork for your cars, and I think i'm going to start doing this as well...if only so that i don't have to some serious mental hurdles to recall when the last time i changed the airfilters was. What do you guys use? Something that fits into the stock owners manual shelf perhaps?

POST 2Original post

Custom made 3-ring binder here. I keep a record of all maintenance, receipts and mileage. C.

That and I use page protectors to hold all the receipts in per project. you can write the date and type of the work on the plastic so its sorts nicely.

POST 4Original post

Am I the only guy whose manual simply won't fit in the stock owner's manual shelf? I mean, I've tried shoving it in there, but I feel like I'm breaking that cheap plastic and it seems way too small.

POST 5Original post

mine goes in the back pocket behind the passenger/driver seat.

POST 6Original post

You guys are way too organized - I just fold mine and put them under the owners manual binder in the glove box.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

^ my car didn't come with stock manuals

Omar, why the need to keep the receipts in the car? I keep a folder at my office. Stan

POST 11Original post

I'm ashamed... I lower my head in humiliation of my record keeping.

POST 12Original post

I also use a three ring binder but for each job I do (and I do all my own work) I also have a work order sheet that I make which has all the details of what was done and cost for parts with part numbers and I staple all the receipts to it. I've done this for years. I don't, however, keep this in the car; I keep it in my office. Hope this helps, Patrick

POST 13Original post

I scan all the receipts and warranty work etc and put on an external drive as well for backup. Do not like paper.

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 5291873

Yup! If the car gets stolen, how do you show the insurance company how much money you spent on improvements, etc!? I keep all receipts in the garage cabinet!

POST 16Original post

Mt receipts are in a folder in the house, along with my spare pocket protector.

POST 17Original post

I also use a three ring binder with page protectors for each receipt but also have a spreadsheet that I update as well. I keep a printed copy of this at the front of the binder. It has the maintenance description down the left hand column and the mileage across the top. I place the cost of the maintenance where the two intersect. It doesn't take long to update and it gives me a quick reference of when my next service needs to be done and how much I have spent on my car. The binder stays in my office.
