Assuming the wheels are wide enough (7" will probably do but check Bridgestone's specs for minimum wheel width), I'd go with 225/45-17:

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm currently running 205/50/17 and 255/40/17 tires.. I'd like to know if I can get away with running 215/45/17 in the front.... checking on tirerack.com the stock size tire diameter is 25.1" (treadwidth of 7.5") the 215/45/17 diameter is 24.6" and (treadwidth of 8") the 225/45/17 diameter is 25" (treadwidth of 8.3") I'd like to keep the rears @ 255/40/17 (stock).. is there any problems with these increased front tire sizes... hoping this will decrease understeer a bit... but the main reason I want to change the tire size is I want the Bridgestone RE01-R which don't come in the standard front size... ??

thx! I'm thinking of running the Bridgestone RE01-R's... from what I've read they stick like crazy without a punishing ride...
