You do not need it. You can do it by sight. I installed a 997 SSK without it and had no problem..

Wish there was a dyi that explained the steps.... quite handy with things but not sure of what I am not sure of! Was there any adjusting you had to do or just a straight forward swap?

you really don't need it. simply go for a drive with the center console out of the car and then adjust your cables. It takes a second to change the cable position and you will find the perfect settings in 2 or 3 tries max. For me simply putting the lever upright was almost perfect, made just one adjustement after driving a few meters. The tool is really not needed

Perfect. Hopefully will get the car back from a week long visit to the dealer for some warranty covered repairs and will tear out my freahly repainted console to do the swap! Looks really easy but just wasn't sure what the remifications of improperly adjusted cables were! Thanks for the input! Looking forward to the improvement.
