Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Set like waynes' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Set like waynes' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello,
I'm new to Porsche and the Porsche world, I just got a 1999 Coupe' with a six speed. I don't want to start a new 32 page post, so I'll just get to the point. I want to "up-grade" my mufflers. After reading the post on this I don't think I really got the answer about using my 99 muffler and doing both the MK I and MK II to it. I think it was "GOTA911" that got most of this done but went to the new 'post' 99 year model muffler. All I really want is the 'sound'. I have a great muffler shop that will do what every I need I just need to know if I can get a better sound with doing both 'jobs' to my mufflers.
Thanks in advance,
Patrick Ford
I don't think anyone's done both mods to the same cans, and many have experienced little to no sound improvement on the old cans period.
I did the MKII mod to my 02 MKII mufflers, sounds deeper down low and more raspy up top without droning, but also much louder
Thanks for the replies.
Okay, so I should only do the MK I to my 99 Mufflers???? But I will not get the sound???? I have gotten the 'by-pass' pipes and even though I like the sound, it IS a little to much after a couple of hours! That is the reason I really don't want to "buy" another set of mufflers (post 99 / 01); that is why I'm thinking about doing both MK I and MK II to my mufflers. All that will happen is that it doesn't work.
This isn't as hard as trying to find a set of mufflers for my 850i BMW but close.
Thanks again,
Patrick
The MKI mod will give good sound, just not quite the same as the MKII mod delivers on the MkII cans.
See this thread for the MKI mod and audio files:

Thanks Kevin,
This does sound like what I'm looking for. My main thought was that a bigger pipe = more noise! Now I have heard the difference and I think that's what I'm going to do. BUT.....if it isn't loud enough, what will happen if I do the MK II also????? Just another question?
thanks again,
Patrick
It will probably just screw it up.
If the 1-1/4" diameter pipe isn't loud enough, you might go to a larger pipe.
But to me, the 1-1/4" sounds pretty loud in the clips.
I just ordered the 1-1/4" pipe myself.
Gonna make a set like Waynes.
Patrick, I agree with Kevin. For your 3.4L mufflers, do the MK I mod. 1-1/4" should sound good. It will be much better than stock.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. now
post a !@#$%^&* pic of your car, Newie
!
Dear GOTA911,
I 'can't post a picture.............if you send me your email I'll send you a picture and YOU can post it for me???????????
Just a thought :-)
