I also installed a side passenger airbag deactivation kit so that my 5 year old can ride up front as well.

I have the Britax Starrisers, but believe they have been replaced by the Brirax Parkway (we have two of those in my wife's car).

Some stores will even let you take a display seat out to your car to check fitment.

New question, I found out yesterday I need to replace pads and rotors on the 996 cab, is there a recommendation other than OEM?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I need advice; I have a 1999 cab 996 and need to know what recommendation for child booster seats (2 seats, twin 3yr old boys new in my life) that will fit into the back seats. Do you recommend removing the bottom cushions? Where can I purchase theses probably on line?
I am not sure about the booster seat as I have the baby seat still, but I also removed the seat back so the passenger would have more room. I think the cab back seat is more "vertical" than the coupe, so removing the back helped and its only a 10 minute job.
Try a search, there is a lot of info on the topic.
Thanks, for the info. I have tried a search but everything that came up was back in 2005 & i'm not sure if the seat versions are still available. The 3 yr olds love to set in the car and go up and down the drive so I want to find a safe way to take them for a ride. The state law at this time does not require them to be in a booster but I am not sure if it is safe enough. However, the confinement of the setting area mybe equally safe.
I hate to plug Wally World, but last night I picked up a "Cosco High Back Booster" with the little 5-point harness for my 2yo, for 22-80lbs.
$43. Cheap but good quality, and it fits nicely in my Coupe without removing anything.
I had the same problem when I was searching, it took a while, but here are a few. My 2 y/o ldaughter loves to go for rides. Remember, the cab and coupe rear seats are a bit different, I would remove both the seat bottoms and backs. Some stores will even let you take a display seat out to your car to check fitment.

Best booster seat I ever had was a Fisher-Price unit I bought at Canadian Tire for $79. This was several years ago but it fit fine in my 928 and in my 996 because it didn't have any sort of a "platform" on the bottom. It was basically a sporty-looking bucket seat that fit really nicely in the relatively narrow back seats on both of those cars. We're talking about "booster" seats right? The kind that don't have their own restraints - you use the seatbelts already mounted in the car.
My 23 year old twins rarely even ride in my car! Only one of them can drive a manual. No car seat issues here. Enjoy your babies!! There's nothing more wonderful than twins!
Thanks to everyone for all the advise. I will look into the two different seats and hopefully have the boys enjoying the rush of air through their hair as they are thrilled by the growling exhaust sound. It is great to have a couple of guys enjoy it so much. I have 18 & 19 year old daughters as well and they love my car but it is just for the flash. Thanks again

Best booster for a cab is made by Britax. They're the company that made them for Porsche.
The base is narrow enough that it fits the back seat perfectly.
I also installed a side passenger airbag deactivation kit so that my 5 year old can ride up front as well.
Cheers,
Stan
I have the Britax Starrisers, but believe they have been replaced by the Brirax Parkway (we have two of those in my wife's car). They fit perfectly. Take both seat backs and sea cushions out, so you have as much space as possible.
Repeat earlier thread, these are booster seats that use the factory 3-point belts in the back. Are these as safe as a 5-point integrated belt in most child-seats?
The Recaro Young Sport is the best child seat out there.

There have been several discussions on this seat over the last couple of years, so a quick search will turn up the thread. Several of us here have them and swear by them.
I'm always puzzled by these threads. My understanding is that children under 40 pounds and/or 4 years old should remain in regular, full harness child seats. Yet it seems as if a lot of people have their 2 or 3 year olds in boosters. What am I missing? I personally would not put my 2 1/2 year old in a booster seat, but to each his own I guess.
That's because there are boosters out there designed for 30lbs and 3 years of age... like this one:

I agree the Recaro seems to one of the best. These systems are not what I think of as a true booster seat. Many of them still use a 5 point harness until the child reaches an appropriate age/weight. A more accurate term for many of the seats is convertible they start as a high back, highly restrictive safety seat and if you wish as the child gets older it converts to what most of us think of as a booster. This will be the parents decision as to when and if that occurs. Wish I had investigated seats more thoroughly years ago when we spent a small fortune on just car seats. My twin boys will soon be 4 and weigh about 38 lbs. They like to try and escape their seats now. I will keep them buckled in for a while.
I spoke with Recaro tech department yesterday and they claimed the width at the narrowest portion of the seat base is 16.5 inches. With the seat bottom in the width of the available area is 14 inches and with the seat bottom out the width shrinks to 12.5. I live in a small town 1.5 hrs away from a large city; therefore, I am trying to resolve this and purchase the seats on the internet. I understand, from reading on this thread that the seats in the cab may be different than in the coupe. I welcome all advice on this matter.

The Recaro young sport will not fit in the back of a 911. Not even close. I have 2 of them in my X5 and they are the best seat made but just wont fit. I also have 2 of the new Reacro Vivo light booster seats in my subaru. They also wont fit in the back of a 911 w/o cutting up the base. I do highly suggest these for your other cars though. I ended up buying the fisher price ones for my 993. I did have to cut the bases a bit to get them to fit well.
You're not trying hard enough.
I have one in the back of my 996 and it fits fine. Take the recline adjuster bar off and you'll have no problems.
As for width - I measured mine as 17" wide at the front - I was measuring it, as I'll be taking it on a transatlantic flight with my toddler later this month and had to measure it and the airline seat to ensure that it fit okay.
