Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Do you really gain 20-25hp with an IPD plenum?? Does anyone have experience with the plenum alone or do you need sport exhaust, open airfilter and new ECU for this gain? Do you gain anything with the plenum alone?

POST 3Original post

It's been debated quite a bit, but it surprisingly seems that there is, in fact, an hp gain- even from just the plenum alone. I wouldn't think that you would get a full 20-25hp, and with all mod hp gain claims, I would just cut the claim in half and figure that would be a ball-park figure. At any rate, whether it's 5hp or 20hp, everyone seems to feel that it at least makes the car a bit more responsive.

Hell no, maybe 6whp at best.

Here's a before and after dyno. I saw 28HP, 26Ft-lbs - mid-range gains.

Wow, well that's good to know, especially since I own this mod. I stand corrected.

POST 8Original post

I picked up one last month. Did the install with the airbox plug to the muffler box. I also have a PSE. I honestly really do feel that the plenum should have came from the factory. The butt dyno gained at least 20hp and I even put on 19"s.

POST 9Original post

I don't know about the 20-25hp gain, but the old but meter says there is a gain & it sure sounds nice on a 4S.

Viprklr, your turbo is gorgeous. That color is stunning! Congratulations. I have the plenum with several other mods. I couldn't be happier with it.

and.. you just lost it, by putting 19s'

POST 13Original post

After I installed my Plenum I could tell a huge difference immediately. I later installed a evo air intake and it made more gains. The Plenum alone makes a big difference by my butt dyno! Mike

POST 16Original post

My 19s are heavy. I think they were bout 10lbs heavier per wheel than my 18' classics.

I noticed a difference in performance when I switched from my 20lb 19" Champion Monolites back to the factory 29lb 18" BBS wheels...a performance loss, that is! I just ordered a set of DPE R06 Variant S wheels 18x8 & 18x10. These wheels weigh in at about 21lbs each. I hope to gain back what I lost in unsprung weight whith the BBS wheels. The 19s looked just a tad too big for my liking, but boy they were light!

do you have any pics of teh DPE R06 Variant S?? how come you didn't go with Champion RG5 18".. they are even lighter than the DPE...

Mainly price. The DPEs are about 60% of the price of the Champions. The DPEs are two piece, forged aluminum T6 - 6016. I ordered the wheels about 6 weeks ago, they should be here in time for the spring. Only pics I could find of the R06 Variant S...
