Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I later found out that this was actually the size that 996 drivers used WAY back in the day in the Speed series when they ran 996's.

I'm the king of running oddball sizes because I've almost always run scrubs to save money so I run what I can get my hands on.

Run toyo ra-1's in 245/275 and was fearful of oversteer

For example one set last year I ran Toyo RA-1's in 245/275 and was fearful of oversteer but I actually fell in love with the way the car felt.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I won a set of Michelins at the club race and thought some sport cups might be good for DE's with the wife. Or I could get a set of tires for the tow vehicle, which are about half the value.
Used them on my SC track car, but could never really get the performance out of them I was looking for.
Has anyone run 265/35/18's and 295/30/18's together on a 996, and how long did they last you?
Thanks!
It really depends on how long runs, if you're unlucky you will heat cycle them too many times. (Just as any other tire). It will be harder and harder to get the tire soft enough.Otherwise it's probably one of the quickest r-compound for Porsche available. It will get a tad slower once it's not completely fresh.
I use them on my 986. I didn't track the total heat cycles on my last set but I'm guessing I got around 5-8 track days (with four, 30min sessions/day) out of them. I have them on again now (and this time I'm tracking heat cycles).
I'd rate them as a good all around R-Compound tire. I like 'em but I'll probably try something different with the next set.
I would think the potential for oversteer would be pretty high and would require some bar adjustments. On the GT3 board R888 with 255 and 315 work well. I run 255 315 Hoosiers.
Ray, that's the problem, they don't make them in 245's. The other option is 235/285's.
The way the car is set up, over steer is not an issue right now. Should probably get the right tires and adjust that with suspension.
roberga, I don't think my 99 has the horsepower for the 315's to make give the right advantage, plus 295s are as wide as they go in 18's.
I used to run 235/295 on my car. I liked the MPSCs. this was a bout 2-3 years ago. In my opinion, they are a more difficult tire to drive than the hoosiers (245/295). They *can* be just as quick as a hoosier but more often than not they aren't. The do not break away as progressively and they take longer to warm up. They last much longer however. I had sets lasting up to 30 HCs. I liked the fact i could drive them too and from the track if I chose to do so.

The "right" tire size can still be pretty subjective. I'm the king of running oddball sizes because I've almost always run scrubs to save money so I run what I can get my hands on. For example one set last year I ran Toyo RA-1's in 245/275 and was fearful of oversteer but I actually fell in love with the way the car felt. Had to go one notch softer on the rear bar but the car drove great on that setup. I later found out that this was actually the size that 996 drivers used WAY back in the day in the Speed series when they ran 996's.
As for the Cups themselves, people either love them or hate them and the negative comments have kept me from trying them. The main complaints come from people who try to use them in colder environments and on light cars where they can't get enough temperature in the tires to get them to work well. Luckily your car is still relatively heavy (no offnese) and you live in a warm enough climate where this isn't as much of an issue for you.

I've used them almost exclusively now. I won a set of Dunlops on 2 sparate occasions the past, used the SSR's, so that's my only point of comparison. I like the MPSCs much better than the Dunlops. I also see a whole bunch of cars running MPSC's every time I go to DE. Certainly, they seem to be THE favored DOT R-compounds for DE. They DO require a lap or two to heat up, and they like negative camber to work well. Also very pressure/temp sensitive.
As for sizes, don't laugh. I use the stock sizes on the C4S, 225/295. I stuck with those sizes 'cuz I heard 235's in front will rub without rolling the fenders. Despite expectations to the contrary, I don't have issues with understeer. Whether that's due to the X74 suspension and alignment, or I just got used to them and drive accordingly, I don't know.
